Isn't The Departed considered a remake? I believe it is, and it gets my vote.

Not technically a remake, but I love John Carpenter's The Thing.

I might get shite for this but, I thought the American version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was better. Now Daniel Craig was a little out of place because he couldn't do an accent, but I felt it followed the book better than the Swedish one. At same time, that series should have a movie that's closer to about 3 hours. There's so many little details that make it a really fun read. Granted I did figure everything out about halfway through it.

I agree. Really liked GwtDT.

After reading the books I felt like their depiction of Harriet's fate was a little off putting.

even 'tho technically it was a remake of a short, i'll say '12 monkeys'.
