Agreed. When I pull up to a traffic light and a black guy blaring loud rap music is next to me, Im threatened and offended.

1. Offended because the music is loud and invades my personal space even within my car.

2. If its unfiltered, the music is offensive and threatening in its nature. Also not something I want my little guys hearing.

My natural assumption is that the person blaring that stuff is doing it on purpose with intent to dominate. That is not only socially offensive, it also likely leads to the exact opposite reaction from what that guy (probably) really wants, which is respect.

I carry a lawrence welk polka CD in my car. For the specific reason that if some turkey pulls up next to me and does this, I gonna blare some Polka shite right back through my bose base speakers.

The reaction to that is usually pretty funny.

In the book Freakonomics, they talk about this. Basically, what we consider "normal names" are not respected in black communities. So, if you think that your child will never make it out of the black community, you name them a name that blacks respect. It ends up being a self-fulfilling prophecy because... When you name your child something like that, it closes many potential doors and ultimately causes them to remain in the black community.

Those named Jason, Clarke, etc. are not treated as nice by other blacks growing up which pushed them away from the black community.

This is a pretty rudimentary summary. If you want to know all of the details, you should read the book.

Probably. I've had that stache since college...over 30 years ago. Shaved it once and wife made me grow it back immediately. Oldest son is 27 years old and he has never seen me without it. I'd probably scare the shite outta the family if I shaved it.

I would definitely do it before a family gathering. It grows back.

It is just as stupid as the white celebrity child names like "apple" and "rumour", etc.

Why are these names any different from some white names that are spelled weird as well? People who get hung up on it at all are stupid to begin with.

Not saying you're wrong but let's say a hiring manager has 2 resumes in front of him and is only to bring one in for an interview. The qualifications are the same, good school, gpa, experience, etc... Which one is he more inclined to bring in for an interview?
