The Gov cut them a check for a mill? To who the church? Or dispersed amongst those who were there?

The church is very instrumental in politics.

I live in Summerville, and still have not been down to the peninsula to see whatever spectacle they have made out of that tragedy.

profiteering at its best.

The government cut a $29M check. Some indeterminate amount was to go to the families to help them defray the costs of the funeral services. I'm sure some of that money went to the church.

Then you have a stronger faith in people than I do.

And no, I don't have to be part of the "black Christian community" to understand that there's probably a better way to go about taking care of those families then a t-shirt stand outside of the church where they were massacred. Please spare me the righteous indignation on that.

People affected by the Sandy Hook shooting got $7.1M from the Feds.

$2.9M for the Colorado shooting.
$8.3M for the Boston bombing.

I agree that there's a difference in cultural viewpoints on this.

You should take a trip to Notre Dame Cathedral. Never seen a racket so blatant.

Not being self righteous, just pointing out that you are bein overly critical and judgemental. How many black churches have you attended? Better yet, ask some of your former black teammates how they feel about it.

I doubt the Church has a serious role in the sales. I doubt the victims families are that money hungry.

It's probably some out of town company planted to profit after the tragedy.

frick you OP. i don't have a problem with people creating shite posts about thugs and shite but to attack church going folk who were gunned down in the middle of a church is the apotime of a shitty person. how do you think your god will judge you when you are standing at the gates of heaven for trying to take pot shots at christian people. you are hell bent on trying to shame every facet of African american lives.

No one said shite when Bowling for Columbine came out in movie theaters across the country and made 58 fricking million dollars. But you are bitching about black people making tee shirts

do i agree with it not really but they can do what the frick they damn well please.

As a nonprofit ethics enthusiast I can promise you 0% of the revenue will go to where it should.

If the church or families are involved, I hope that's not true.

They seemed like a very holy, dignified and classy group the weeks after the tragedy.

it's okay for the columbine to profit off a tragedy but not okay for the church to do the same? the only reason it doesn't' make sense is becuase you're more interested in playing gotcha drive by politics than addressing the hypocrisy of how African Americans are looked on versus their white counterparts.

if the church were in alabama and were a group of white people no one would bat two eyes about a tourist attraction being setup

Bowling for Columbine was a movie made about the gun culture and education system in the US by Michael Moore. None of the proceeds that I'm aware of went to charity.

I don't think you know how white people think as well as you think you do.

Why??? Was it a government employee that did the shooting?
If true, that really chaps my arse.

I'm sorry it happened and all, and feel for them - but a government sympathy card with a Mil check in it is bullshite.

I know you were addressing the T shirt side of things, that's within their rights I suppose, but tacky as hell.
However, people have the option whether to go see the movie or buy the t-shirt, no one forces them to.

fricking tax dollars going to the church though come out of folks pockets whether they want to or not.
That's pure bullshite.

A couple actually. I had friends and teammates in middle and high school I occasionally went to church with when I stayed with them on the weekends. Canaan Baptist being one and Greater Tabernacle Baptist Church. But the fact that I even have to say this to "defend" what I said, just shows how ridiculous it's become to question anything anymore.

Honestly, I heard about it first when one of those friends posted about it on FB and said "The only time I should see money changing hands at church is when it goes into the plate. I wish my brothers and sisters in Charleston would ask them to take up their cause elsewhere if they're not involved. This is as trashy as those hoodrats who make money off RIP t-shirts.".

Not being self righteous

But yet in that same breath you drop the "How many black churches have you attended?". Yeah, you're not being self righteous at all.

Honestly, I hope it's all going to the families. But from my experience, that's not always the case.
