So the church from the Charleston shooting has quite the enterprise going.

Here for the week, passed nearby the church and they have it all barricaded off so you can get in line for the newest tourist attraction and they have t-shirt and beverage stands on either side so you can purchase your souvenirs. It's quite nice.

They could be donating the money to the family of the victims

They could be, hell they should be. 100% of the revenue at that. It is just a bit too much for me. It still feels like an exploitation of a tragic event. I'm sure they have already received large funds from gofundme, etc... As well. i am just not one that thinks, "hey throw some money at it and will make the pain go away"

I can think of a few classier things you could do to raise money for those families instead.

Not sure why in the hell they need to profit from this tragedy. They got a settlement from the gov't for well over a million $.

Disgusting.

And other than that, NYC, Charleston is a beautiful city steeped in history. Not sure if you've been there before or not. If not, make sure to visit the Battery and Rainbow Row and possibly Angel Oak, as well. (Angel Oak is on James Island, which is a short drive from downtown Charleston)

I'm not sure why the government gave them any money.

Been here many times, was married here as well. My wife was the eighth generation to get married in the church as well, so her family goes way back here. Thanks though.

This made zero sense to me, as well. They were not suing, so why just hand over that much money?

It wasn't done for the victims of the Colorado theater shooting, or Sandy Hook or the Boston Marathon bombing...the list goes on and on. Seems unfair to me, but that's just my opinion.

I really don't you expect you to understand, but trust me on this the black Christian community sees nothing wrong with this. I trust that the money will go where it should. It's a part of the recovery.
