I just heard that quite a few Pinson busses are stuck, stranded, and loaded with children.

If you are stranded make your way to the nearest school or toward city hall. When we hear of any other shelters opening we will advise.

They're now asking people with 4wheel drive to consider going out in their areas and helping people who are stranded. They're worried about how cold it is, and want to get people safe before dark.

I wished I still had one, I'd be out helping as much as possible. One post on my facebook, said one of the Pinson school buses, was stuck with a load of kids from 10:30 til 2:00.

I know Trussville was having issues because the sister of the girl I was with this morning was stranded in her car at the high school.

If it's a pickup, make sure to put 500-700 lbs. of weight in the bed. I used to buy sandbox sand from Lowe's or Home Depot in 50 lbs. bags and place them over the rear axle when it got like this.

Yeah a lot of those roads are pretty bad to begin with. Throw in ice and lack of proper vehicular equipment and it's a bad situation

Fultondale is apparently hilly terrain. I just went to the store and saw so many messed up cars/trucks on Walkers Chapel between On Tap and 31 it wasn't even funny.

Fultondale Fire Dept comes pulling out on Walkers Chapel in a Hummer and slides down the hill and smashed a Tahoe. I was like DOE!

Yes I really did. It was because he comes barging in the road like he is going to save the day. Then he slides down the hill and DOE!

Damn. Hope no serious injuries. I am worried the low temps and stranded folks are going to be. A huge issue tonight. I hope not, but it could be bad.

Damn. We at least have enough of us good Northern folk here in the ATL to not make a mess like that in snow.
