In a way you are right.
The truth is that Texas is about the freest place left. If you aren't breaking the cardinal law here then you can be and do pretty much what you want. You don't even have to pay income tax! lol. You'll pay 6.25% on non-grocery items whenever you buy them. That's a given. You can start pretty much whatever business you want to start. The government here is all about letting you do so. There's less here to stop you from doing and being what you wish than pretty much anywhere else in America (ergo the known universe).
Noteworthy exception: You still can't marry someone of the same gender. Nor can you marry your offspring or parent. Or pet.
Sooner than later we're going to have to 'get with the times'. These foreign bastards in Dallas are harbingers of that realization, sad but certain.
