When I was 8 I watched my 13 year old brother die in an accident.

Jesus man, I'm sorry. I'm super close with all my siblings, so just thinking about something like that breaks my heart.

Completely agree with wanting to keep that memory alive, even if the opportunity arose to erase it.

I am watching a K-Drama Series now called "Circle: Two Worlds Connected", and it is about erasing memories.

I'm going to try watching this.

I personally don't like it at all. I could spend the next 15 mins explaining myself but I will spare you guys the drivel. What could go wrong?

It honestly is kind of scary thinking about what likely will happen should the technology be applied to people. I know we are quite some time away from the application in a human brain but this will be spring forth some very interesting discussion in the future.

It's actually already being applied in Europe. I posted previously about "reconsolidation interventions" to treat phobias. It's quite effective at eliminating irrational fears of snakes, spiders and the like.

Whether advances will be made to treat PTSDs remain to be seen. There are a lot of associative memories to worry about there. I'm sure that treatment will be tightly regulated, as it should be, but I think it's an area that can bring relief to a lot of people.
