The reason soccer hasn't taken off in America is because advertisers can't make money off of it.

No commercial breaks = Less money

I agree somewhat, if it was popular enough the halftime ad's would be at a high enough premium to cover it but thats the catch 22.

Soccer is #2 in popularity among Americans under 24 according to Mike & Mike on ESPN.

I mentioned money earlier. There's just not enough for players or advertisers to bite into yet. If we do very well in the next two, we can see a great team fielded coming up.

And I do think it's on an uptrend.

Absolutely. Look at the success women's soccer had with Hamm and Co. Most of the high schools in my area didn't have teams 15 years ago. Now you have club teams and all of that. And a large part of that was the interest generated from the US Women's Team.

The potential is there but the interest will have to be generated from the top to get people serious about it.
