I'm in Roswell. Schools are good, good rec dept for kids, fun downtown.

Yes it is, if you're into gang violence and drive by shootings.

Except for that municipal gigabit internet.
Wonder when Google Fiber will make it OTP.

My brother lived in Chattanooga for 3 years for work. Called it "Chattanowhere". The aquarium and downtown are nice, but its in still a small town shite hole.

I love living right near Athens, however as most people have said, move to Oconee County for the schools.

quote:Great advice. Have a friend who just moved to Sugar Hill. Five, maybe 10 minutes to minutes to the lake, maybe 15 to Lanier Islands. Once they finish the roadwork on GA 20 around Peachtree Industrial it will be really nice.
Suwanee/Sugar Hill/Buford area
Buford is good if you are in the area closer to Hamilton Mill. The Buford area closer to Mall of Georgia is hit or miss.
We just moved into the area between Hamilton Mill & Chateau Elan and it is a great area - Mill Creek is one of, if not the top high school in Gwinnett. Traffic coming into town in the morning sucks so bad though, and will for the next 18-24 months as they extend the toll express lanes up to Hamilton Mill.
Of the areas mentioned in the OP, a lot depends on where you need to go for work. Athens is a hell of a commute to anything inside 285 (co-worker takes 2 hours to come in from Athens). Norcross has some nice areas but also some sketchy areas.

I would put Kennesaw, Acworth, Buford or Roswell above either of those.
I had friends who lived in Ackworth about 20 years ago...not sure if it still holds true, but back then it was very nice.

I've lived in georgia for 17 years, and personally i believe the Dacula/ Buford area is the best area to live in. awesome schools, low crime rate, great community. has it all.

PTC is a nice option. not a whole lot to do for a under 30 crowd though.

Roswell
Really wanted to live in Roswell but couldn't convince the fiance to live that far out.
Moved here from Phoenix and bought a house in Oakhurst in June and have loved it so far. Having Kirkwood, Oakhurst and Decatur within two miles of the house has been nice.
