The driver of the black car that picked me up from the airport for my office visit informed me about the Oak Cliff area. Would be quite the experience

The northern edge of Oak Cliff called Kessler Park actually isn't all that bad these days. The gays have gentrified it a great deal.

Greenway Parks. My old landlord. She's a Rebel and may have a place near the corner of Lover's Lane and Inwood Road behind the Inwood Theater. Quick commute to downtown and relatively quick to Plano, both via the Tollway. If interested, respond and I'll get you in touch with her. Great lady.

There are a lot of great bars and restaurants nearby, good shopping, and a new Trader Joe's. If I would have stayed in Dallas, I would have attempted to buy the house I was renting.

I would:

#1 - Contact a realtor and have them help you.

#2 look at 635 and 75. you would go south to Forest and then over to tollway. That is your access to Downtown. Try to stay off 635 during high traffic periods, which is 24/7.

#3 Depending on where she works in Plano, the realtor can guide you to how close to Plano you want to live.

#4 you will be living in Dallas. Prepare yourself for tough commuting. That is life there. Been there and done that (Garland to Love Field). Don't miss it at all. A 10 minute variance in departure time from work in PM can mean an extra hour commute. Plan carefully and listen to the real estate agent.

#5 Having said that DFW is a great place if you have money. Not so much if you are poor working/living around rich folks.

I will take any reasonable information I can get. We wouldn't be moving there until beginning of August. We are pretty open considering we don't know too terribly much about the city

Good deal. Email erased from previous post. Let me know if you need it again. I loved Dallas when I was there, and hated to leave.

I got it man. No worries.

I am pretty excited to move there. I never expected to be living in Texas but a job opportunity came up that I couldn't pass up as a new graduate. I think my GF and I will make the transition from Oxford to Dallas pretty well.

You most probably will. There is a huge Ole Miss contingent there. A girl I once knew remarked one time that she thought (until she met me) that the Ole Miss alumni sticker was the SMU alumni sticker because there were so many of them in and around Dallas (and the Park Cities). I was out of Ole Miss for 10 years before I moved to Dallas and it was like going to a reunion when I moved out there due to all of the people I had known from DFW in my 5 years in Oxford.

Good luck!

I appreciate it man. I work in the OM Alumni Office now so I know that alumni group is really strong. It will be a good time

Uptown/Oak Lawn is the best area to live if you can afford it. I am married & have lived here for almost 9 years & love it. You will have a 5-10 minute drive into downtown & your girlfriend can take the Tollway up to Plano going against traffic. This area is not just for singles. It is great. That being said.......I still miss New Orleans.

We both are working in entry-level public accounting jobs with pretty good starting salaries. I think we should be able to comfortably afford to live in the area. I hope I am right though cause honestly, I don't know the first thing about city living

I lived in fort worth mostly for a better part of 8-9 years and thought the Allen area was nice. Close to downtown, and super close to Plano. Southlake and grapevine are really nice communities as well although they're a little further out.

You can get a 1 bedroom place for 15-1600 I would think in Uptown, it might even be cheaper
