Sons of Anarchy

Is an over dramatic pos of a show that portrays MCs in a completely fictitious light and I can't stand it.

"The Walking Dead"

I was about to list this as well. I honestly don't get the massive popularity of this and other "zombie apocalypse" shows and movies. They aren't scary or even that interesting the way shows like TWD and recent movies of this theme are produced. Movies like Night of The Living Dead were classic and when they are produced that way they are good.

Along those lines, I'd put some of the paranormal shows on the most underrated listed. It isn't exactly a sitcom but I think a show like Paranormal Witness is a really good underrated show and I don't know why shows like it are so overlooked compared to shows like The Walking Dead.

Someone do explain how SoA or The Walking Dead are mentioned in a thread about sitcoms.

The Big Bang Theory gets my vote. It's a show that tries to sound smart without actually being smart.

Newhart

Newhart was an awesome show (after the first couple of seasons when they shot the show with a VHS camcorder). Once they got rid of Kirk, the show was genius.

Seinfeld ties for number one. I'm talking best, not overrated.

Shows I hated as a kid, but loved as an adult: M*A*S*H (pre Alan Alda directing days), All in the Family, and Barney Miller.

ETA: Yes, I'm old.

In theory Zombies are very scary but I think the appeal is in the wanton disregard for our fellow humans. In any given scenario, if you kidnapped from a bus in say, Northern Mexico and a hammer was thrown between yourself and another man and they said whoever kills the other first gets to live...well, most people wouldn't be ready for that.

The allure, as I said, is that we get to be unspeakably violent to people when social standards and downright humanity inhibit these feelings. Not only that, it is a foe without any advocates (any defense would be highly unpopular and irrational to the core) and so, it further enables a loophole to be something we're not.

So, I'm not sure if horror is the main selling point but the main detractor is: When zombie shows and movies try to be 'real' with science when they (the producers) have clearly never consulted a virologist or epidemiologist in their lives, I think that's where the bigger problem is.

TL;DR I think the plot holes are a more egregious crime than the genre itself.

I was telling a friend today how much I love that show. IF you like Paranormal Witness you would probably enjoy Monsters and Mysteries in America. It comes on the Destination America channel. Caught a marathon of it on Sunday and was absolutely hooked.

Seinfeld was entertaining funny, not guffaw funny. That's what made it such a top notch sitcom.

We've gone 3 pages without mentioning my favorite show Parks and Recreation so I'll take that as a win!
