There is no debate about that. This thread is about the decline in popular music, i.e. what you hear on the radio. No one denies that underground music is churning out all kinds of awesome, but pop radio is damn near unlistenable (and has been for some time) and rock radio is all but dead.

Pop music now consists of 80% hip hop. There isn't much artistry involved with most of it.

Eh I disagree. Everyone has different tastes, though.

I like a lot of what's popular now. Also listen to a lot of older stuff.

XM is about the only listenable radio left.

I can't handle local top 100 radio anymore. "Annnnnnndddd at #3 a song by Katy Minaj that sounds just like #4 by Ariana Beyoncé Spears"

Same tired producer, same engineered vocals, and the same generic lyrics.
