I don't think there can be procedures in place for every situation because they're all different. Which is why it's easy for administrators to fall back and use systems in place that generally react to events like this in a much less timely manner and involve much less transparency.
So like I said, it's refreshing. Because an administrator that could have done a whole lot less has arguably done far more than anyone would have expected him to. If this happened at Auburn I can't imagine Jay Gouge handling this in a similar manner.

It's very cool to say "oh I've been to NY/ Boston/Chicago/LA/Up north and i've seen more racist shite then i've ever seen in the south". Firs tof all unless you're a person of color how the hell would you know 
secondly, no, no you haven't. I live in Wayne NJ now, but I'm from Little Rock, AR. My family basically has to call the US Marshalls to come and get me to ever come back home. My mom's 50th birthday was last year, didn't come home for it. Don't go home for holidays. I'll go home if something happens to my mom and for my sister's HS graduation in 2018 but that's it.
Any black person from the south that has means, leaves. There are no members of my family outside of my mom that still live in Arkansas. Why would you? You don't put up with shite like this up north or out west.
Which in turn, takes revenue away from the southern states because only the ones that can afford to leave, actually leave, which leaves the worst of the worst behind, education gets worse, states get poorer, states get more and more batshit GOP becuase there is nothing there to even out the playing field voting wise.
Do I think that all white people act like this when i'm not around? no i don't. But am I surprised? no. Nor do I really give a shite, it's not the worst thing I've seen or heard and it doesn't effect my everyday life in any way. But still, the south is a pathetic place of existence
I'm a dihard arknasas fan and if given the chance to play college sports for Arkansas, i seriously doubt i would have stayed in state. I had a cousin that played BBall for Arkansas that was dead set on going to georgia tech until he couldn't get in lol, then had to go to arkansas

Growing up in the south, I've never really considered Oklahoma or Missouri southern. And I think they wouldn't label themselves southern either.
Not trying to invalidate your experiences or anything. Growing up Asian in the deep south, I've had my share of poor experiences and I can certainly agree with some of what you said. I'm just curious what connections you're making.

There absolutely are procedures to follow in situations involving student conduct. And they should be followed.
That said, the students should have removed themselves from school on their own, but that's a whole different argument.

honest to God. I have never heard somebody called a n***er to their face in Texas in an insulting way. Behind their back, in closed company? Sure.
I have seen it in Pennsylvania and NYC.
I've also never heard somebody use the term 'spic in real life. heard it incessantly in PA.
How about you don't assume that people from the south have never been to the north? Seems kind of purposefully ignorant.

I have a great grandmother (103 years old BTW still going) that was gang raped by a bunch of white racists outside of a bowling alley.
She was violated and beat to within an inch of her life. They beat her to the point were she can no longer hear, her vocal chords were shattered and she can't speak and she can't see out of her right eye. This was a while ago.

There have been atrocities done. No doubt.
That story sickens me and I wish hell upon those people that commited that act. I am truly sorry that she went through that.
