Obama doesn't reflect the majority of Americans. Of the significant minority that do vote, most of them are uneducated voters who are swayed by evrything other than policy.

Survey after survey has shown that the "average" American leans very moderately to the right (mostly on economic issues) and it's been that way since the end of the Carter administration.

In fact, only a small percentage of Americans would be classified as fiscally liberal.

I would agree that a majority of Americans are fiscally conservative (although Republicans aren't exactly fiscally conservative these days nor have been for a long time, but that's opening up a can of worms and for another day, another topic).

I'm also positive that most Americans are also socially liberal and would prefer to avoid legislation coming from the Religious Right. Most Americans would prefer science to be taught in the classrooms, as opposed to creationism or intelligent design. Most certainly don't believe that government should legislate inside our bedrooms.

Fact: Obama won among both voters without a high school diploma AND among those with post-graduate degree. This occurred in both the 2008 and 2012 election cycles.

People who cast their votes based on social issues are either directly effected by them (homosexuals wanting to get married, for instance) or have seriously misplaced priorities.

With our current debt and it's continuing accumulation, we're a generation away from a complete breakdown of the economic and social structure in a country of 350 million people. We've been slowly but surely creeping towards a fullblown welfare state for the last 80 years that is stretched impossibly thin on poorly devised programs. But hey, as long as we can say we let gay people get married...

One day, homosecuals will be allowed to marry. Abortion will always be legal. Guns rights will be in some form severaly curtailed. And none of it will matter one damn bit if we continue down our current fiscal path.

And for the record, I'm not a republican. Their shite doesnt stink any less than Obama's. They pander to the lowest common denominator as well, they just don't so it as well as the democrats.

We need a president, and a congress, willing to tell certain portions of our population and certain entities within it to frick off and deal with their shite. Otherwise, we're going to go broke on bailouts and social programs.

Obama has actually cut the growth of spending to a rate not seen since the Eisenhower administration.

Annualized spending under Obama is growing slower than it has under the past four Republican presidents.

I disagree. Any gun control laws that may come to pass will be minor in nature, if at all.

This is why until now I had avoided talking about politics. I was a political science major. Politics used to be my life's passion. Not anymore. Now, I get as much political news from the Rant or Texags as I do anywhere else. It doesn't interest me, and I didn't puff my chest after the election and ruined a perfectly good troll attempt.

It's cool, I still enjoy your and Klarvin's presence on the Rant despite our minor disagreements.

Haha, as you know I'm just messing around. I'm pretty conservative on most issues but since 2008 have made it a point to rarely discuss politics unless I'm in a situation with similar minds (have to vent sometimes). With that said, I think we can all agree that the system is broke and to fix it we need to focus on fiscal related issues. Social issues can take a back seat.

obama doesnt really piss me off often. I dont want to get into it but this statement does. How can a man who is leading a fricking war in which both Americans and innocent middle easterns are being killed and then turn around and tell me i should have a guilty conscious about a fricking football game in which players know the risks they are taking is beyond me

I don't mind Obama speaking out on this issue, as a fan and as a president. There are serious health issues involved and you can't always talk about nuclear non-proliferation or reforming the tax code.

In fact, I can't wait until Obama fills out his March Madness brackets. He picked Kentucky to win it all last year.

Who knew a #1 seed could win it all?

Not true.

Most Americans may claim to be conservative or moderate, but when push comes to shove, the majority of Americans are liberal socialists.

Just try to take away the progressive income tax, social security, Medicare, farm subsidies, and corporate subsidies.

Could never happen.

You'll find a similar level of intellect in the majority of both groups.

So let me get this straight:

1. He's cut the GROWTH of spending, but not the spending itself.

2. The Senate hasn't passed a budget in almost four years and keeps passing "continuing resolutions". That's like paying the minimum payment on a credit card and continuing to max it.

and you're spinning this as a GOOD thing?
