I'm asking if you find 21 to be an acceptable amount of rapes to report.

if all 21 are actual rape, then it is acceptable.

You obviously think 52 is too many.

I found 52 hard to believe. It turned out I was right and you were wrong, apparently.

Now the question remains, where did the other 31 come from? If you have a link to where the number was lowered to 21, I'd be appreciative if you provided that so I can read into it.

I mean I think everyone agrees with him on the bottom line about this many accusations being horrible but the disconnect seems to occur between him thinking people don't care just because they have some doubts on the actual number.

He's well intentioned, but a little bit limited.

The disconnect you pointed out is a huge problem intellectually for so many people.

I don't know if zero-summing is the right word, or Hegelian dialectic or what.. but people definitely have a problem juggling and letting competing thoughts interact in their minds.

You did a good job of clearly articulating the issue.

Somehow wanting to see the facts before damning someone straight to hell equates to calling these women lying whores, or something.

Another issue is people are a little numb to this because we all knew already that it was bad at Baylor. If this was an institution that had no recent previous history of this than it would be much more unsettling.

There was no right or wrong. They reported 52 incidents. You say you don't believe it. I ask you what would be an acceptable # of rapes to report in excess of 11 released by the school. Would 21 have been to many for you to believe?

I never said that.

you're making a fool of yourself in this thread.

I don't believe or not believe anything until I see the facts. I've said this multiple times, yet you are clearly having trouble grasping it.

Really?

I get that you want to see the evidence.

I don't see the problem. I've said numerous times now I was skeptical of such a high number. Saying it is hard to believe is not the same as flat out not believing it. At first glance, with no facts, the number seemed high.

Plus, I was correct. It was high, they did review the facts, and they did lower the number by more than half.

well then what are you carrying on about? Because I didn't join you in some masquerade to e-castrate each Baylor football player and coach before seeing the evidence? Because I thought 52 was correctly a high number of rapes to go unreported by anyone? Or are you just pissed that your thread went sideways on you by a few posters who clearly have more common sense than you?

21 rapes is horrendous. But again, they are simply accusations. Once the evidence comes out, and if there is proof of rape, I'd be happy to join you in lambasting Art Briles and Baylor. I hope this clears things up.

my goodness, the number keeps going down.

Now, navyduke, did we learn something today?

let me know when all of this is settled and I will join in on the lynch-mob. Pinky swear. Unless the number gets to 0 of course.

17 is the number of victims per the October report supplied by the board of regents up from the 11 victims as originally reported. That is still less than 52 incidents being claimed in the lawsuit.

Ok, well you can still label me as "skeptical" then. I know that outrages you.
