I'm putting in my two weeks tomorrow. I have three unused sick days. When my sister left her previous company, she was given the pay for the unused sick days. I'm hoping that happens. If not, no biggie.

Two week notices are outdated nowadays, just like bachelors degrees.

Ive done it twice.

The great boss that I hated to leave was told by HR to go ahead and send me home, as I had access to the Oracle system and it was protocol. They paid out my two weeks though.

The bitch that I laid awake at night planning my exit for was courteous and even planned a small gathering around the office on my last day, much to my surprise.

Never know how these things go.

When I left my old job before the one I'm in now, I submitted my two weeks which happened to be two weeks away from our next company bonus being issued (so four weeks from my day of submitting and two weeks after starting my new job). I guess my supervisor liked me (older no-bullshite guy so it was hard to tell) and I guess he vouched for me to the higher ups cause, next thing I know, he's instructing me to rewrite my notice to end the day after company bonuses are issued and to fill out a vacation form for those latter two weeks (during which time I'd already be working elsewhere). So, I basically worked my last two weeks, started my new job, got paid for another two weeks worth of vacation time and got my bonus from the old job. Didn't feel like it while I was doing it, but turns out that putting your head down and busting your arse can pay off sometimes.

I love my job. My boss is cool as shite. Any time the Lieutenant comes up with some stupid bullshite, he says "frick that! I'm not doing that to my guys." I've got another 7, 12, or 14 years left, but I'll retire there.

I one upped your asses. I was able to announce my early retirement, worked out my notice because I wasn't going anywhere else and left a certain individual holding the bag because they did not have a replacement that could do what I did.

Said certain individual was not a nice person, did not deserve the promotion and had screwed me and others over before. Vengeance...it is a wonderful thing!!
