they made it very clear that they wanted UAB only fans,
They won't have that. At least 75% of the student body are primarily Alabama and Auburn fans, at least on Saturdays.
ETA - Many of the remaining 25% are fans of other schools, as well, or are international, and care nothing about the athletic programs.
I've been going to games since 1992, when they were still D-III. The crowds are bigger now, but not by as much as the publicly stated attendance would indicate.

I see you already got your season tickets to being butthurt. More like a lifetime pass for you
I know its gonna be tough for you that weekend:
UAB vs Alabama A&M or......
Auburn vs Georgia Southern
I wondering who will have better attendance? I'm guessing UAB.

UAB has been loading up on talent the last 2 years of hiatus. They're a dark horse to win CUSA
They had what essentially amounts to the death penalty. I would be shocked if they went above .500

No.... They didn't. Not even close.
With the death penalty on top of the program shutting down, bowl and tv ban, you also get major scholarship restrictions for like 5 years to the point where it's difficult to even have enough players to field a team at all.
After UAB was reinstated they were allowed to sign way over the normal limit. They signed like 45 players in 2016 alone.
They signed a frick ton of JUCO players, several transfers from bigger schools that will be eligible this season. They even have a few former 5* guys (Clifton Garrett former LSU LB)
I would bet money on them being .500
Like I said, it's a shame that Greg Bryant was murdered (former 5* RB freak) or they'd be a darkhorse to win their conference this year.
Don't underestimate Bill Clark. He's a damn good coach and player developer. Look at all the talent that dispersed all over the country after the program was killed (Jake Ganus at UGA, Jamari Staples at Louisville, and several others) even got a couple guys that are doing very well in the NFL right now (JJ Nelson and Jordan Howard)
Players now how good Clark is, see how well he develops players and they want to play for him.

FAU with 5 wins: Bethune Cookman, Buffalo, North Texas, FIU, and Charlotte
UAB with 7 wins: Alabama A&M, Ball State, North Texas, Charlotte, Rice, UTSA, and UTEP

So UAB had a 5* runninback and he was also murdered?
Tell me more!

Yes, people getting murdered is generally "that bad". As is 21 yr old kids dying under any circumstances.
Add in somebody with the God given talent to accomplish things that most people dream of, and came to get a second chance but had his life taken before he had that chance by somebody that was jealous of his oppurtunites.
Greg Bryant was a 5* out of HS, signed with Notre Dame but everybody in the SEC was after him. After 2 years at Notre Dame he transferred to JUCO then UAB.
Came to UAB January of 2016. Went through spring and by all accounts had a new lease, never worked harder on the field or in the class room because he knew it was his last chance.
After the semester at UAB ended he flew home to Miami for two days to see his mom for Mothers Day weekend.
He was supposed to fly back to Birmingham the next morning to start class for the summer, but as he was leaving the club somebody pulled up alongside his car at a red light and shot him in the head. It was allegedly somebody who knew him from HS and was jealous that he made it out of the streets in Miami.

I may make it to a UAB game this year. Clark could have been a DC at just about any SEC school in the last few years if he had wanted. Hope the best for him. UAB's best chance at doing something significant will be if they decide to separate from the UA system.

Clark took the DC job at USA in 2008.

That's just not going to happen. If UAB could figure out a better stadium situation near some of the good development happening Downtown (or even on campus) I think they'd see an increase in fan presence. Legion Field is just so shitty, and there's no environment outside the stadium.
I like Clark and will be pulling for them. I think he can do really good things there, but UAB is never going to be anything better than third-best in the state. I may try to make a game this year as well.

Of course we all know who got offered that spot first, before Clark. The man behind the states real HS power, the undisputed GOAT

I had my car broken into a couple of times and got mugged once outside of Legion. So I have experienced it.

I'd like to check out a few games at UAB.
I wish we could hurry up and hear what they're going to do with the BJCC and whether or not it's going to receive the renovations.

I remember going to some summer camps when he was at Prattville and meeting him. Really nice guy and a hard worker. His championship teams at Prattville were insane. His first one when Larry Smith was the QB and they beat Hoover was a fun team to watch. Glad to see he's made it this far.
