Lawmakers in Mississippi plan to propose legislation to remove the Confederate emblem from the state flag, as momentum grows across the south for symbols that evoke the era of slavery to be removed from public view.

The flag is under fresh scrutiny in the wake of the mass shooting at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, on 17 June. Nine churchgoers were killed.

I wish someone would alter StoneHog. That would also make the South a lot better and respectable.

If we do have a vote to change I hope these are some of the options. I like #6 personally

We need an anonymous upvote / downvote about the retention of the Confederate Battle Flag. Do this the Rant way..

Maybe we need a flag of Col Reb shooting a finger with the caption, "Hey Yankees! Go frick Yourselves." If we're going to be offensive, let's make sure its regional offensiveness and not racial offensiveness.

We went through this shite over a decade ago.

Kenneth Stokes stole the state flag from the Jackson City Council Chambers and some black dude dressed up like a Confederate soldier and marched behind them carrying a Confederate flag while they were in session.

I am back in Jackson visiting family and according to the news last night 57% of the state's population don't want it changed.

I really thought it was going to be changed with the last vote. But then the nimrods in favor of change started an ad campaign about how the flag was discouraging companies (read: Yankees) from moving to the state. That pretty much made it a done deal for keeping the flag.

I will ban bet anyone right now who wants to bet that Mississippi will take the Confederate flag off their flag any time in the next decade.

quote:

The Five Basic Principles of Flag Design

Keep It Simple

The flag should be so simple that a child can draw it from memory.

Use Meaningful Symbolism

The flag's images, colors, or patterns should relate to what it symbolizes.

Use 2 or 3 Basic Colors

Limit the number of colors on the flag to three, which contrast well and come from the standard color set.

No Lettering or Seals

Never use writing of any kind or an organization's seal.

Be Distinctive or Be Related

Avoid duplicating other flags, but use similarities to show connections.

Those are okay. In fact, all of them are great if they take the writing out of it. 100 Feet away and flapping in the breeze, you can't see that shite. Plus, a flag is supposed to symbolize something. If you have to put the name of whatever on the flag then your symbolism has failed

I see 2 intersecting diagonal lines in #5 so that can't be an option.
