What exactly was that map supposed to show? Federal dollars? Percentages? I am not sure its accurate as State A can get 50 M and State B can get 55 M but due to population and etc State A is more dependant. If that makes since.

It's done per capita.

Wallet Hub tabulated its results using three metrics: taxes paid as compared to federal spending per capita, what percentage of state revenue comes from federal dollars, and the number of federal employees per capita. The first two categories were given more weight than the third.

Obviously the second one couldn't really be broken down per capita.

It's misleading map because many of those states don't have a high number on welfare but federal spending on things like military bases can skew the results

Also the red states aren't hypocritical on welfare, the reason we make it an issue is because we see the abuse of it so much, from food stamps, to disability, farm subsidies, etc. the ones who take these handouts do not vote conservative for the most part

When I think "dependent on the government" I don't think highly educated federal employees and military personnel.
And yet those people are very dependent on the govt. and their pay and benefits come directly from taxes.
