Mizzou fan here making my first trip to Baton Rouge, and I can't wait.

Probably staying in NOLA Friday and Saturday nights.

I couldn't find a lot of information on tailgating or pregame activities, just a bunch of generic info on the LSU website and a couple of articles. Can somebody give me some info on where the best tailgates are, how receptive LSU fans are to visitors, what to bring as bribes to join tailgates, where to park, how early to arrive, etc?

Since we joined the SEC, we have taken road trips to Ole Miss, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Texas A&M, and the fans have treated us visitors great at all of them (SEC road trips beat the crap out of Ames, Manhattan, Lubbock, etc, although Lincoln and Austin were pretty good).

Thanks in advance. I'm pretty sure the Tigers are going to win.

I've been to BR several times, and their bark is worse than their bite. They'll get in your face a little bit, but if you have fun with it and don't take it personally, they'll have a laugh with you and invite you to their tailgate and fill you up with food and drink. It's my favorite road trip to make.

I haven't been in 10 or so years though, so don't have any info on where to go.

This. You won't find a fanbase as outwardly rude and vulgar outside the B1G, but unlike those guys, it's not personal with LSU fans. They're mostly decent people and happy to drink a beer with you afterwards.

Hell, they're probably the happiest group of fans in the conference for the rest of the season.

It's Missouri not Alabama. He'll get a few tiger baits and that's it.

You will have a great time as long as you stay away from the parade grounds. That place is full of really drunk frat boys trying to prove their manhood.

I was thinking of parking a car Friday night in the overnight lot by Parker Coliseum, getting a ride back to the hotel with some relatives, then taking a cab over on Saturday to tailgate.

Does that sound like a decent plan? I see there are some free lots, but since I've never been there, it's difficult to make out how far the walk is. I'm all for paying $50 if it gets me out sooner after the game.

That will work. Traffic after the games is horrible so we usually just stay and watch the late games for a while.

Lookup the address of the LSU Vet school. You can park in the lots next to it for free. You'll get some traffic post game, but it is free, and is only a 10 minute walk to the stadium.

LSU fans are great in person if you aren't sensitive and like to party. They will talk some good natured shite and then give you food and booze. As long as you aren't easily offended you will have a great time. I went during the Manziel era and they talked plenty of shite (and rightfully so since we got our asses handed to us) but I never once felt like I was going to get in an altercation or fight with someone

ETA and I tailgated on the parade grounds with the fraternities, I was 24 at the time

Early 50s. Probably the reason I haven't had any problems with other fan bases. I try to ignore the drunk kids, hyperactive superfans (see deathvalleyfreak43), and just enjoy the experience, win or lose.

I would pay to park somewhere near the north gates. Pop into chimes for a few beers, then walk along towards the Indian mounds. There will be some welcoming tailgates around the mounds. That is also where the band marches down the hill and is a block away from mike's habitat. They usually have some music for homecoming in front of the pmac as well

This is a good plan! Parker is relatively close to the stadium (15 min walk), and is surrounded by really great tailgates.

Someone else suggested staying after for a while and letting the traffic die down. There will be lots of tailgaters with TVs set up outside. They will typically let you hang out and watch other games while you wait.

Good luck and enjoy Death Valley! Geaux Tigers!

Thanks for this. Is there somewhere I can park Friday night, or should I just wait until Saturday morning?
