There is a finite amount of matter, but the universe is continuously expanding outward.

they obviously aren't more advanced than us because they haven't gotten to us either.
I find that extremely hard to believe that we are at the pinnacle of advancement and that humans are the top dogs in this vast universe and we can't even keep our planet clean. There's another planet and civilization out there somewhere thats far more advanced than us.

We're only at a stage of advancement, not the pinnacle of our capabilities. I'm sure there are extraterrestrial species both more advanced and less advanced than us.

For other civilizations to come looking for us, we have to be interesting to them. Radio waves from our technologies are only at the 100-light-year range. That's how long we've been broadcasting these wavelengths that have leaked out into the galaxy. Our galaxy spreads over a distance of 100,000 light years. At this point we've put a very tiny drop in a very big ocean, figuratively speaking.

We are infants in the search for ET.

Given how many planets that have been discovered already in the Goldilocks zone i dont see how their isn't life on other planets.

And that's just considering planets that are the right distance from their sun to hold water.

Also, Just because we need certain things to survive does not mean every potential life firm has the same requirements.

Like women. God doesn't want me to understand women because he knows what I'd do, amiright?
