This is historically inaccurate. No canaanite tribes were ever wholesale enslaved by the Egyptians, who used largely the paid labor of their citizens instead of slaves.

This is your average Lebanese woman today -- and it matches the Egyptian tablet depicting the different races of the region.
Is your average Israeli face, both of these are considered Caucasian as an average.
I have no idea where this concept comes from where people from that region are dark -- the majority are descendants of the early migration of Caucasians that extends all the way to India.
There's a reason why most Persians are considered Caucasian.
Average Iranian woman.
None of these are considered a dark complexion, not even close.

That's my guess -- everyone from that region was White for the most part. Pale skin, but clearly with Semitic features. I guess it's more of an ethnicity debate than it is a race debate -- I posted above what the average Israeli, Iranian and Lebanese looks like at this moment as well as a very old tablet from Egypt.
They were light-skinned, I think the only reason people say black is to rustle some jimmies.
