FDR blindly arrested citizens and put them in concentration camps for no reason besides their ethnicity. He's clearly the worst offender and should have been impeached for such an act.

FDR, Lincoln, Woodrow Wilson, Carter and Obama are the top five worst presidents.

Woodrow being the most dangerous in ideology and FDR in effectiveness.

"The Three-Fifths Compromise was a compromise reached between delegates from southern states and those from northern states during the 1787 United States Constitutional Convention. The debate was over if, and if so, how, slaves would be counted when determining a state's total population for constitutional purposes." "Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons."
Don't forget though that it was the northern states that wanted the slaves not to count, or count for less, because otherwise the southern states would have had a much higher population and have a heavy majority in the House.

The last president to really respect the Constitution would probably be Buchanan. He allowed the SC to rule on the Dred Scott case, saying that Congress cannot decide if a state is admitted as free or slave - that choice is up to the state itself. He even helped convince one of the northern members of the court to side with the southern majority in order to give the case a broader scope.

Lincoln was the first to really trample the Constitution, and then Johnson followed close behind (see Taney Arrest Warrant and the Mary Surratt case).

Eisenhower and Kennedy are probably the right answers here.

Clinton wasn't too unconstitutional but his character in the office kinda throws that out to me.

i can see the argument for Lincoln but no other on this list. FDR oversaw us coming out the depression and there is credit for that, but at a great cost.

Since I'm a conservative even if it was FDR, Lincoln, Bush, W, Reagan, and Clinton, I'd still only see one of the top on that lists.

Obviously Lincoln is one of the greats. No real argument against that, unless you are part of the south will rise again crowd.

FDR brought us out of the depression and won the war. Top 10 at worst.

Not a big Lincoln guy, but Lincoln and JFK were the only two presidents to defy the banking system and create currency in the treasury, interest free, as it should be.

i might have to agree to top 10-15 at worst. i don't have the hatred for him most on the right have, but there's a lot to be desired from his presidency (social welfare, internment camps, etc.)

but then again, i'm super right wing and don't hate Obama really so my opinion is probably moot to both sides of the isle.

FDR starting welfare (or at least greatly expanding it) is enough for me to put him in the bottom half of POTUS's

i agree with the misgivings towards welfare, but he was in a desperate place to which i think it's easy to judge now in hindsight. i think if we had ended it after WWII people (republicans) would not look back so negatively on him from that. it helped us limp along till we got to WWII and that's commendable. keeping it going afterwards was our failure there.

I've never understood the use of this word.

Is it really easier to all caps that instead of just saying 'president'?

Any US President who is President for 16 years and who is presiding over a country in depression at the start of his terms will "bring the country out of depression."
