I'm at a point where 1 million would be extremely useful. If I were more economically secure, I'd go green.

Put that 1 million in the bank and live off the interest.

Shouldn't even be a question.

Current rates at .9% would yield you 9,000 dollars a year and that's for the best rates you'll find. A million isn't going to have you living comfortably.

When you have a bunch of student debt and no assets though, that million could go a long way.

Give me a house and some savings and I hit the green button.

Absolutely. Pay off the student loans and the car. That alone would be worth the instant cash.

I'm nearly debt free. Take the million.. invest 600K, 100K to charities, 200K into land and 100K in toys.

Depending on how old you are, you can make that million back. How many times with you have a coinflip for 100,000,000?

The million is certainly wiser thoughh.

I'm closer to retirement than when I started. Smart money is to take the sure thing and invest wisely.

With smart investing, that 600K should make 10-15% returns. I don't need to be filthy rich. Just content.

Red button, easily.

How about this?

Red button: instant one million
Green button: 50% chance at being supreme world leader

I understand that position. I could do well with just a million but I could set my family for life until my grandkids blow it all on 100 million.

Imagine the football tickets...

With the 100 million, I'm imagining a castle built atop a mountain, with a bunker underneath able to withstand most all weapons but a nuke, with about 15K sq ft and a third of that housing long term food storage, overlooking about 3000 acres of surrounding property, with 30 acres around cleared pasture so I could see anything approaching.

And.. ohhh.. the firearms and ammo I could have...

I guess it is a matter of perspective. For myself, a poor college student, a million dollars would enable me to wreck shite for the next year to year and a half, not work, etc.

Maybe on down the road, after I have earned my OT millions and millions, the 50/50 shot at 100 million would be more appealing.
