I have read portions of the book and this mini series looks fantastic. I love history also.

I had to read it in the eighth grade and was bored to death with it then. Definitely not going to subject myself to it again.

damn forgot about it until i saw this thread, I'm watch it tomorrow on DVR. I hope history does a better job on this than they did the world wars shite where they had all kinds of insane inaccuracies for the history channel.

I'm DVRing it ... but yeah, I'll watch it when the wife gets back from Honolulu. Skip through the commercials, drink some grog, hit the poon afterwards.

Looking forward to it actually.

This one is an A&E production, isn't it?
I mean, it's based on a novel, not sure that historical accuracy applies in this case.

I hope it's well done and has a good soundtrack.

Episode 1 starts pretty slow but I thought it was good. I had no intention of watching it, but happened to see it channel surfing, remembered this thread, and gave it a shot. I will definitely be watching next week.

Yeah, I am pleased so far. I hope it's not one of those that start strong and lose focus later on. It had to be a huge project.

I thought it was the BBC that produced this.

I thought last night was a good show. It did drag at times. I am just glad I was never assigned to read the whole book.

I have seen where the BBC has come out and said do not get book notes from the show, so wonder what changes they have made.
