And is Interstellar out on Amazon Prime yet?
Nah dude. I missed all that but I assumed something went down. Hell, even the dawgrun doesn't exist anymore so there was obviously some major shake up. Give me the low down when you get a chance.
Not sure about Amazon Prime or Netflix at this point for Interstellar as it won't be released on blu-ray until 3/31. We should know something after that.

March 17. But you might want to wait a while. HD is $19.99. I'm now so addicted to all the free stuff on FireTVStick that I can't imagine buying a movie again.

Loved it
Completely enthralling film. One of the kinds of movies that makes you think and keeps bouncing around in your head for a long time.
Can't wait to buy the dvd/Blu-ray.

It should have been two 3ish hour movies. One mostly spent on earth ending with the first time dialation video. Then have the exploration of cool arse planets and 5th dimension end game.
Most movies lately have been too long, I thought this one had a more complete story to tell.

I can admit I was completely confused throughout the whole movie, as was my wife and my parents who were visiting for Easter.
I found it entertaining, but I had no clue what was going on.
Admittedly, I'm not a fan of sci-fi, but figured we'd give it a shot based on the high ratings and good reviews.

Then they pussed out. I highly doubt that 99% of the audience that watched Interstellar understands the fifth dimension and what a fifth dimensional being would be like, but Nolan didn't give a shite. I thought the fact that the aliens were fifth dimensional humans was a stroke of brilliance.
I'm not sure ANYONE truly understands the fifth dimension and most certainly doesn't understand what a fifth dimensional being would be like

I'm a huge Nolan fan. I almost think Nolan can do no wrong.
However, I firmly believe that The Prestige is easily his best film followed by Inception.
I liked this movie. There were moments of brilliance, no doubt. But I found myself turned off by the end.
Honestly, read this thread that I posted on the Movie Board. It has some very excellent discussion and debate regarding this movie:

The Prestige is one of my all time favorite movies. I can't think of another movie with as many layers. The movie is literally a magic trick. Its a movie that isn't over your head you can watch multiple times. It makes me mad that a movie like that, which is brilliantly written, well acted, and perfectly directed misses out on Oscars while something Birdman takes home a bunch of trophies.
I've seen Interstellar and loved that it tackled space issues that your average theater-goer probably doesn't know. Beautiful movie that I probably need to watch a few more times to really get the feel for it considering the scope.

I was thrilled with the movie's science and cinematics for the first 3/4 of the movie. I understood pretty much everything that was going on, mainly because I've read a lot of older scifi like The Forever War which really goes a lot deeper into relativity and time distortion. The concepts Nolan uses for those and the gravity causing the breathtaking tides on the first planet are familiar, but I've never seen them on the big screen. Directors just use the tired "earth-like" planets usually, and it's boring. The real question is: why has it taken 20 years for Hollywood to see you can do much more fantastical settings and still be accurate to science? Reality is stranger than fiction.
Everything from the entrance to the black hole until the dyson-cylinder was awful. I'd rather had there be some weird aliens than some half-baked time paradox.
As for the very end, if you read The Forever War, you'd get why he wanted to go and find Hathaway. She is his last real connection to humanity, everyone else is from a different time, and he has no roots. He has no one else to relate to, no place. He is an antiquated museum piece, why not jump through time a few more times until humans can more freely travel the stars?

You nailed it. The Prestige is Nolan's best to date without a doubt. You're right that The Prestige is an actual magic trick. Very well said.

spot on for all accounts.
i watched interstellar by myself in a regular theater on a business trip and then went with some friends a few days later to an IMAX. it greatly made me appreciate the scope of the movie more, having the plot down, then enjoying the visuals and music. i liked it a lot. but not the best of Nolan.
There were 2 great injustices at the oscars this year. Lego Movie not getting nominated and Hans Zimmer not winning for best score...
ETA: added a link to the docking scene. beautifully shot and scored. best scene in moviedom last year.

I just wish Nolan would've attempted to progress the medium rather than pay homage to Stanley Kubrick's 2001.
There were a wide array of different directions he could've taken this story, but ultimately he decided to direct a near perfect modern 2001.
