I'm curious here who saw it and what they thought of it.

If you liked it I'm curious why and if not, I'd also like to hear why not.

I know it got snubbed by the Oscars but who cares at this point. I thought Christoper Nolan produced the best space movie since Contact.

I think the only deficit might of been the underlying premise was based heavily in theoretical physics theories which might of been over the head of the average audience.

I didn't like Contact even though I typically love hard sci-fi. It builds and builds and builds up to a climax that ultimately feels like a non-event.

Loved Interstellar. It's an ambitious, twisty Chris Nolan hard sci-fi movie with a terrific cast. What's not to like?

If you ask me there's nothing not to like about it I thought it was brilliant in concept and execution, and was one of the best pure "big screen" movies in years.

I'm a big scifi fan and loved Interstellar. The story was engaging, the plot was well executed and the actors were well cast in their roles and did a good job.

I thought the movie was alright but wayyyyy over-hyped.

I went in with really high expectations and came out of the theater slightly disappointed because of it

Are you aware of the events of the Great Re-alignment of 2012?

And is Interstellar out on Amazon Prime yet?

Well, it is the most ambitious sci-fi film since 2001 (or at least one set in space), and really tackled why we should go back into space. It has a great emotional core with the father/daughter relationship, and really takes a story set to physics as far as it's ever gone. I fricking loved this movie. Favorite of last year.

While I like Contact, I agree that it's pretty anticlimactic. Interstellar is if Contact actually had stakes and went through with its threats to the main character. Really loved how Interstellar had the balls to go through with it, and the film's docking scene is just intense knowing that the entire human race was depending on that moment. Really great stuff.

i honestly had to watch it a couple times before everything sunk in. it's the best movie i've seen in years. The length of the movie didnt matter at all. It was engaging and really makes you think.

I felt cheated after reading the book, which had a brilliant ending. In fairness they probably didn't think they could explain to average movie-goers why finding a pattern of 1's and 0's in an irrational number was a big deal.

Then they pussed out. I highly doubt that 99% of the audience that watched Interstellar understands the fifth dimension and what a fifth dimensional being would be like, but Nolan didn't give a shite. I thought the fact that the aliens were fifth dimensional humans was a stroke of brilliance.

Spectacular acting, score, concept, filming, plot, direction, and ending.

The only complaint is 15 minutes to the last 5 was just too much of a jump in the scope of the entire movie. We went from real science to science fiction and that just didn't fit for me. It felt like the ending of Lost where they just tugged in the heart strings to make me ignore the lack of resolution.

I won't say that it's my favorite all time or even in the top 10, but it's probably my favorite movie in the last 5 years.

You all pretty much are echoing my feeling and opinion on this movie. I found this to be one the most profound and mesmerizing movies in the last 15 years.

I think it will go down in the same discussion as 2001 when it comes to space/sci-fi movie history as far as it's legacy and impact.

In addition to having phenomenal special effects and a moving story, it was one of the loudest (in a good way) movies I've ever seen. It blew you back in your seat (assuming you were in a good theater).

The whole impetus of this thread was because in addition to being a big fan of college football, sports, and music, I'm also a big fan of movies so I'll frequent movie boards. There seems to be a good amount of movie trolls and contrarians on this movie just for the sake of doing so. In fact, I think it only has a 74% rating on rotten tomatoes which seems much too low for this movie. I would expect it to be worthy of a 90% rating, but I think that's more a result of movie trolls that get of on hating popular movies.

Never the less, it seems the general population as a whole digs this movie as it deserves to be.

it's a really good movie but it wouldn't crack my top 20 list.
