The closest thing you'll find like that will be at BowlJackson's mama's house.

Good thing he'd be in Birmingham already. UAB has one of the top optometry schools in the country, and he'll need an optometrists because that would make him go blind

You're right. I had several surgeries there some years ago, and they were exceptional.

Was just there this weekend to hang with some old friends and catch the Alabama v. Kentucky basketball game. We lost but had a hell of a time. Just got back a couple of hours ago. Don't listen to these Auburn fricks. They hate because they have two good restaurants and two good bars in their entire town. Trailer parks outnumber good eating establishments.

Rama Jama's for breakfast. The new (to me) Holler and Dash place is good too. DePalma's or Five for dinner.

Others mentioned... Willhagans, Nick's in the Sticks, Mugshots for a damn good burger, Waysider's good for breakfast, obviously Archibald's and Dreamland, Hokkaido for Japanese. Hooligans is good too.

For this trip, we got in Saturday morning and did Rama Jama's for breakfast, Mugshots for lunch and Five for dinner. This morning we had Holler and Dash for breakfast and Hooligans for lunch before heading back to Atlanta.

Bentos was always my go to spot because I love sushi. Nothing like getting hammered at University Village or at the Retreat around noon on Tuesdays and Thursday though and then heading to Mellow Mushroom.

There is a rail yard on Greensboro Ave if there are any rail fans that like to take pics or whatever.

If you like beer, Druid City makes some of the best beer in the state. The Downtown North Porter won best beer in the state a few months ago, and is worthy of that title. Chill place to hang out, though a bit of a hipster vibe of that's not your thing.

Archibald's has the best BBQ. Don't waste your time at Dreamland.

City Cafe for a meat &3 lunch.

Chuck's for a nice seafoid dinner. Same owners as Harbor Docks in Destin if you've been there. Five is decent as well, and a cool atmosphere. Same oweners as Red Bar in Grayton Beach if you've been there.

Cypress Inn is past its prime, but still okay. Depalmas is decent, cheap Italian. They used to make their pasta fresh in house every day. Not sure if they still do.

For pizza, Post Office Pies is the best in town, and it's not close.

Maybe best porter in the state. There is no way the North Porter is the best overall beer in the state.

It's all subjective. Snake Handler is my favorite beer made in Alabama, but the DC Porter is a very, very close second. Here's an article regarding the award.

Damn, Google confirms they are permanently closed. That's a shocker. I didn't think the location was that weird. Just a block off University behind Innisfree.

Archibalds for BBQ (dreamland is overrated)

Why is Tuscaloosa always trying to steal Birmingham restaurants? Come up with your own shite. Taco Casa is the only original restaurant worth a shite to come from that shite town and the owners are apparently too dumb to open any more locations or not but their one Birmingham location in a terrible hidden spot

See if you can track down Lester Cotton. He's got the hook up on some good herb.
