January is the absolute worst. Excited to see 6 stations being marked "in use" with towels, water bottles, etc by the newbies....

Pretty stupid to pay for a gym membership, even if you are going to waste hours every day working out.

Meh. At the gym I have access to an indoor, Olympic sized pool, yoga classes, and far more workout equipment than I could ever fit in my home. And -10 windchills in the winter doesn't stop me from accessing any of that. It's well worth it.

it was pretty packed @ 5:30 AM today. no "marking" went on, but every piece of cardio equipment was used up. most had cleared out by 6:30 and it was the normal crew.

to the elliptical comments: i ran track and CC all through HS. my ankles and knees are 100% done with prolonged running. i do 3 miles a day on an elliptical in about 30 minutes or i row. it's either that, or no running at all.

Quit the gym a while ago. I have a treadmill in my den, a pullup bar, yoga mat, dumbbells, and a runner friendly neighborhood. I don't want to see fatties in tights.

Ah yes people trying to better themselves how awful

Haha you people crack me up. All the downvotes are from fat people, plain and simple.

The fact of the matter is, these people WON"T better themselves. They will fail, and will be back eating ice cream in their house by February. New years resolutions almost always fail.

Overweight and obese people real problem is having absolutely zero self control. So yes, I laugh at these people "trying to better themselves" because they are the reason they got there. No one made you eat a whole pizza, or drink 6 beers every night. I feel zero sympathy for someone that did it to themselves.

So let me get this straight, you're bitching about fat people essentially being in your presence but at the same time bitching about fat people who are trying to get fit and no longer be fat?

I know a lot of people who have cut weight and gotten fit. Especially ladies I know post-breastfeeding.

I bet you're a blast at parties, how long ago did the fat guy kick your arse, it's ok just let it go.

Haha I would never let a fat guy kick my arse. I actually work out, unlike the fatties at the gym, so I can hold my own in a fight.

Yes, I'm normally the life of the party, thanks for pointing it out.

Because they don't actually work out. Most fat people at the gym walk on the treadmill for 20 minutes while watching tv, and then go eat a pizza because they worked out that day. Not gonna cut it.

Good for the few that actually do, but studies show that the vast majority of people on a diet either fail, or succeed for a little bit and then gain all the weight back.

Well they're fat. Most overweight people who haven't exercised for years are advised to "take it easy" to start.

Maybe they do, maybe they don't.

So they just shouldn't try at all if they gain weight back?

Like I said earlier, you love to hate on some fatties but bitch when they try to improve their weight. It makes no damn sense.

Haven't felt the full brunt of the influx yet, because college town.

The students haven't all come back yet. When they do, it will be a madhouse.

You getting on that $10 planet fitness membership?

Pick a cute chick w/ an extra 20lbs and lay the groundwork. Be positive and motivational, she'll stick to you like white on rice in 3 weeks, then by March w/ a constant regiment and staying true to less portions and more water she'll have those 20lbs off and be ready to flaunt the bikini body.

The Fatties don't bother me - it's the beatnik new age hipsters wasting up space and equipment doing bizarre plyometric / Cross-fit / Yoga / Gymbastic nonsense.

Dude, your 6' 2" & weigh 125lbs...no one cares about your abs, go do some heavy squats or perhaps some bench press...not on a goddamn ab ball with kettle bells.

Also, why does everyone wear leg warmers?

Pick up something heavy, repeat for 6 weeks, you will have muscle.

There is a difference between starting slow, and being pure lazy. Fat people who are actually working out are rare. People walking on the treadmill at 2.5 mph are common.

Where did I say they shouldn't try if they gain it all back?? Like I said, the vast majority will gain it all back because they are lazy and have no self-control.

Again, I am hating on the fat lazy people that take up the gym doing almost no exercise and then go home and eat like crap and complain. Just stay out of the gym.

True this. Like I said earlier, the worst is there will be a group of 3 of them trying to bench press a whole 65 lbs and take 3 minute breaks between each set.

Been a golds guy for almost 10 years. But they did just open a planet fitness here.

Isn't that the place where they serve pizza and kick people out for being overly attractive and fit?
