Sectarian violence lies within the religion without any outside help. I've seen this. You can say it's politically driven within their borders, but it isn't. Wahaddis and Sunnis hate fricking Shias, and they all hate americans and christians.

and Jews..

I just don't know how you think that blowing up everything from Marrakech to Islamabad will solve the problem, and that's without the ethical considerations.

Against who? Where? This isn't 1938. You can't just go to war with the Islamic Religion. Unless you want to fight about 1 billion people.

I don't think it's a solution, I'm just playing along with the thread.

I have seen a Jayish Al Mahadi leader's family after one of AQI's small groups killed every man from 80 to child inside the same house, hours after it happened.. 8 males bled from the throat out in a living room pile surrounded by their women. We don't need that here..

All Muslims.. Sunnis and Wahadis are motherfrickers and we can't imagine the daily routine in those areas right now.

We need to play by the same rules the enemy is playing by......none. That's the only way to win this war.

What the hell do you think American foreign policy is? It is itself a jihad, but our doctrine is neoconservatism and American Exceptionalism instead of Islam. The only difference is ours is secular, but nonetheless dogmatic. We have initiated more belligerent military action than any other nation since WW2, yet we claim to somehow have the moral authority to the beacon of light for all. We should mind our own damn business, like the Founding Fathers advised.

Forget 1938. It'd be like the Crusades all over again.

While I agree with the sentiment, it's too late for that. We claim it because it was thrust upon us. What we need to do now is win it once and for all.

And our Founding Fathers would pretty much puke at what we've become.

Possibly the most naive statement I have read on this or any other board in a very long time.

You think the founding fathers imagined islamic terrorists crashing jet airplanes into buildings full of innocent american citizens.

Go look up the Barbary War. in 1787 The US Marines put a stop to some muslim bullshite then. The founding fathers brooked no bullshite from those folks then either.

Probably as much as they did about us using intelligence agencies to install friendly governments halfway around the world.

ETA: I'm not defending any attacks whatsoever, but they didn't occur out of a vacuum. Their motivations were as much political as rereligious, if not more so. They WANTED us to get involved in a multi decade quagmire, all the better to radicalize the populations of Islamic countries.

I'm interested to hear your opinion on what should be done overseas. Just a brief description.

No judging, just wondering. Pull completely out?

Realistically speaking, yes. My real answer would involve there being no politically defined nation to defend, but that is not a practical reality (at this point in time).

They would be disgusted at what we've become, a nation that profits from war and the senseless deaths of its brave sons and daughters. There is no real incentive for us to pull out of southwest Asia, it is helping keep our economy appear stable with the gobs of money thats dumped into defense spending. Especially those contractors...I wouldn't imagine you know anything about that?

Thank you.

I started to respond to him and decided he wasn't worth it.

The damned ink wasn't dry on the Treaty of Paris when they started attacking US vessels and it damned sure wasn't the result of US military. We didn't even have a navy.

Heck, the need to defend against those raids was one of the principal reasons the first six warships of the post-revolution US Navy (one of which is the USS Constitution) were built.
