Cool. At least I know that there are only twenty seven amendments to the US Constitution.

You are the one bashing the constitution and being pro nazi/communist style "show-me-your-papers" checkpoints. Sorry if some of us enjoy the freedoms afforded by the constitution and expect law officers to actually obey the law.

This country is fricked up beyond belief when it comes to incarcerating people.

Big time. It is disgusting. Then you watch one of those CNBC documentaries about the billions that the private prison industry makes, the cheap labor they get, the lobbying they do for mandatory minimum prison sentences. The way they pay off politicians to vote for laws that extend prison sentences or have minimum sentences and so forth. All so they can make a buck.

You're getting it pretty good in this thread and I don't want to pile on...I'll just say this: the "they shouldn't have broken the law" line of thinking is very dangerous. I'm sure you're aware, and probably have seen, some really shady laws/acts be passed. Just something to keep in mind.

Who said I didn't enjoy my freedoms? I served my country and love it but to think that the constitution isn't open to interpretation is foolish. Look at the patriot act and the affordable care act.

I expect them to obey the law and to do their job. If you see cops breaking the law you should probably report them.

Sure it is on things not explicitly stated. The 4th amendment is pretty fricking clear. Probable cause is open to some interpretation, but it's not nearly as fluid as you suggest.

I don't know if anybody has said it on this thread (haven't been back since page 1) but it's pretty easy to not break the law.

Stop being dicks and breaking the law.

al.com has been running investigative pieces on the prison system the past few weeks. The ACLU needs to step in and force the issue into the courts.

This is the first one I've read that had any racial undertones of segregation.

Haha.

Unjustly? Doubtful. Overcrowded? Yes.
