The best Jack Cristil moment was after the 2008 Egg Bowl, in which the Rebels pounded Mississippi State to the tune of 45-0.

Cristil attempted to list the "Sonic Drive of the Game" and stated that: "Sonic Drive of the Game...my drive back home to Tupelo, Mississippi...I guarantee you that will be the Sonic Drive of the Game."

Cristil was hands down the best.

Naa, it's Munson and it's not close. Larry Munson was an artist and you could feel his arteries hardening and blood pressure rising with every snap of the ball.

Larry Munson...tGOAT

Cristil was too boring for me. He was so monotonous.

Jim Fyffe is up there just because he trolled the shite out of Gumps. I have Gump family who would actually turn down the radio when listening to Auburn games and his iconic "TOUCHDOWWWWWWN AUUUBURNNNNNN" holler.

Eli's "Touchdown, Ala-bama!" would be a lot cooler if he was a Southerner.

I like Eli Gold, but yeah, there is a bit of irony in the fact that the voice of Alabama football was born and raised in Brooklyn.

Of course, Paul Eells and Larry Munson were two of the best ever and they were from Iowa and Minnesota, respectively.

Ironic on a different note, but in the golden age of radio announcing the voice of the NY Yankees (Mel Allen) and Brooklyn Dodgers (Red Barber) were from the South.

I still love me some Vin Scully. When I was a kid I vividly recall watching the baseball game of the week with Vin Scully, Tony Kubek and Joe Gargiola. I loved it. Would watch with my granddad.

I am not a fan of Eli Gold. He does a terrible job actually telling you what is going on on the play. He can make a 1 yard loss sound like a 10 yard gain before he finally says "loss of 1 on the play."

The thing about Munson was he was a TOTAL homer. he was GEORGIA's announcer. he was accurate in his description of the game, but it was very clear he was paid by UGA contracted Radio. didnt try to be neutral at all.

he was a great announcer though. An artist with words and his passion for the game and his knowledge. Really one of a handful of throwbacks. John Ward at UT was the same. I like to think of Fyffe at Auburn similarly though Jim didnt serve as long as Larry.

the SEC misses these guys. Respect all around.

OMG. The worst at this EVER was Al Ciraldo when he did Georgia Tech games. "There he goes...there he goes!!....three yard loss.". fricking moron.

I love homer announcers. I could not care less if they're rooting against my team as long as they are accurate with the PBP or analysis. Homerism means passion, which is fun to listen to.

Homerism is what CFB should be. I don't want my local guy being neutral. I want him to shite his pants when UT scores and blow a gasket when bama does. That's college football and that is one of the many reasons that makes it 10x better than any other sport.
