I've got two computers, a power Dell desktop XPS bought in 2007, and a power Dell laptop bought in 2003. BOTH run XP! Both work GREAT! Luckily a anti virus vendor out there still fully supports XP...Kaspersky. I've NEVER had a virus on either computer. Both show their age only when trying to watch video greater than 720p, as both are short on RAM and both have older graphics CPU/card. I'll use em til I can't use em. It will happen eventually, but I'm damn proud I've held on to them this long and have not been suckered into upgrading via the hype.

I just need to know, does AOL.com still do the "You've Got Mail" thing?

TIA

I think someone picked up the phone and disconnected his internet. Gotta dial backup.

How do you know if your anti virus software is capable of finding all viruses?

I'm locked in to 7 until they quit supporting it (2020?). I'm not going to run an OS they no longer support (XP).

W7 Enterprise does not ever prompt me to upgrade to anything. It's great.

windows 7 and 10 are both good OSs.

i'd contend that windows 7 may have been the pinnacle even over mac OSs.

7 was the goat but now 10 is where it's at. and they gave it away for like a year.

mainstream support ended for 7 in 2015 which means no more driver updates or new hardware support or patches. Security updates only until 2020. It's fine as long as you stick with old hardware

XP was the best OS from MS till Windows 7. I'm using 10 now, and I like it, but everytime I reboot, I have to edit the registration to use some features, since it's domain connected, and I'm not always on the domain. Not a huge deal, but annoying.

Windows 10 is awesome. Build your own PC. It's cheap and awesome. Go to Fry's if one is near you, or build it on newegg. If you can't watch a video above 720p you're failing at life.

an fyi...you can download windows 10 from Microsoft and just not activate it...it works perfectly fine, completely functional...you get a small watermark in the bottom right of your screen is all...found this out when I purchased a license for 10 pro online and it was a scam leaving me unactivated...needless to say you don't have to buy it...

Btw win 2000 pro is still the apex of OS, never crashes, still works with most products to this day and uses a grand total of 384mb of ram in the background. Win 10 has background apps that take up more than that

Comprehension...you obviously have none...I never claimed it was great,,but in truth ..IMHO it's not bad..and I offered a choice to the OP that had not been mentioned...I spent close to 15 years as a network/security/OS engineer in the private/public/ and education sector..I obtained over 13 technical certifications and a graduate degree in the field. But..please carry on...I practice Anesthesia now and do very little technical work.. windows 10 works well for me..sorry you're having such a difficult time....as an fyi..local colleges often teach introductory pc/windows/..typing courses for little to no money....you my friend could learn some online etiquette.. start by making less assumptions...you also come across as rude... belittling someone else's input ??..otherwise..I give less than a frick what your "knowledgeable" opinion is..

PS. You can slim up your OS and those background apps...I'm sure you know that though...you can also prevent mandatory updates..despite what you might read on the internet...but you know that already right...not sure why you're having so many OS crashes...I've had a total of 2 BSOD with windows 7 and 10 in the time period I've used them, both my fault due to driver conflicts on a new pc build....hell...why don't you just put knoppix on a thumb drive and carry it around as a Linux rescue disk/bootable live system....because it sounds like you need it...
