This. Some successful college players just don't fit in well in distinctly defined NFL schemes. Plus, the guy chose to make a spectacle of himself and there's probably a lot of owners who don't want the controversy and potential disruption to their team chemistry.

This isnt accurate. I originally held this opinion as well, but he was going to be outted and he decided to get out in front of it.

The problem is he's not OLB. Not athletic enough. And he's small for a lineman.

Also I think it's worth mentioning, bc everyone seems to point to his sack production, that 9 of Sam's sacks last year came in only 3 games. ASU, Vandy and Florida. While that's three very good games, that also leaves 11 other games where he really didn't blow people away on the field.

The mocks have been all over the place in this draft. A lot of the big names have fallen. Some teams we thought would address some needs haven't.

This happens every year to all kinds of players.

He was never a 1st rd prospect (WalterFootball does multiple mocks a wk over a yr out) but 3-4 is accurate. It is somewhat unusual (though certainly not w/o precedent) for a player mocked in this range to fall completely out of the draft.

Once you get past the 3rd rd you get into these sorts of trade-offs w/ everyone. Has the size but not the athleticism, injury history, off the field concerns, scheme fit, too slight, etc.

Actually it's more of the 5-7 rounds that's like that. They still draft people they think can have starter potential in the 4th round. Generally speaking

Eta: I think he will be drafted. Just not sure when.

It's becoming more and more of a possibility. ESPN will be unbearable.

Does not matter, he will write a book and do media tour that will eclipse what he could have made in the pros. probably winds up with a talk show within 5 - 10 years.

You know a fun game v&s? Take any sports team you are currently thinking about, in any given situation, and put "anal" in front. Instant awkward spontaneous laugh.
