I had a short marraige (2 years) when I was younger. We decided to divorce, she filed, I was served and never answered which made it automatic after 6 months...I was served again letting me know it was a done deal.

I imagine it went something like this and the guy intercepted the server or worked thru some attorney and the wife was never served..

Or, as stated, he probably had her sign a group of papers and one was the divorce papers. Probably had a friend later sign as witness and notary.

This is definitely a plausible answer, as it seems the husband doesn't mind pulling nefarious crap.

It still doesn't answer my question of why someone would operate under the guise of being married for 27 years without actually being married?
