Louis C. K. explained it best in the above link. I will summarize it by saying If you were reincarnated and given a little box to choose your race, I be you are going with white.

Try driving that white privilege in downtown Detroit, or near a police precinct in a drug riddled, predominately black area. You'll see it turn to, that white boy is looking for drugs.

I dont believe so.

Everyone gets stereotyped, even white folks.

But this isnt about mere stereotypes

"White privilege" labeling is just another attempt to divide and continue class/race warfare. As long as everyone keeps buying into it, it will continue to help perpetuate prejudices.

Acknowledging a simple fact of society isnt perpetuating anything. Simply saying it exists does nothing.

Now, minorities who play the victim card all the time because of it can have negative consequences but that is another matter.

Gotcha. I guess I don't think about that stuff as being privileges.

And thats pretty much the point.

"I’m not saying that white people are better. I’m saying that being white is clearly better, who could even argue? If it was an option, I would re-up every year."

Biggest thing for me is I don't harp on advantages or disadvantages. I can only control my own self and my own work ethic and let the chips fall where they may. Focusing on problems doesn't solve problems. There are always going to be facets of life that are unfair to everyone.

And that's a great way to see things in life.

I do.

Sure it is. Actions are based on sterotypes. Perpetuating those stereotypes creates the issues that continue. So long as people teach that you can or can't be something because of someone else, they'll continue.

You already refuse to acknowledge the above scenario. I can promise you, a solitairy white boy driving in the hood is going to be treated the same as a solitairy black boy in a nice neighborhood, in regards to, they up to something.

It exists everywhere. It's not a "white" thing. Put an Indian and a black guy in the same vehicle, is it Indian privilege. Or an Asian and a black guy in that same vehicle. Is it Asian privilege then? How about a Spaniard and a black guy, Spaniard privilege?

Most have been young and dumb at a certain age and have worried. Grats on not ever drinking underage and being out when police are around.

I was speaking of my superiors.

On the UGA board, there are few superiors.

That's just being bigoted. I've been pulled over by a black cop because I was white and had a nice truck and he simply wanted to find something wrong so he could write me a ticket. He had no reason to pull me over..couldn't even give me one. They do that shite all the time here.

IMO, I see privilege as "help" that you receive due to others having a positive perception of you.

For example, being able to walk into a bank looking for a line of credit and receiving a positive response prior to showing your financial credentials.

Privilege is getting the benefit of the doubt when you go to court for fricking up. There is a reason that a white college frat boy gets out of a drug possession charge while the tatted up gangsta goes to jail for the same offense. It's because there is a perception that the college kid has a future and made a bad decision, and that the thug will never get off the streets.

Remember the only color that matters is green. Money talks, bullshite walks.

I only think privilege as something that can help further you in society, and it's something that is earned through hard work and responsible actions.

Sure there are perks to being a member of the majority, such as Tbird said when you turn on the TV most actors are white, but that really isn't privilege so much as it's just economics. People are going to target the largest demographic because that's the largest consumer base. It would only be a privilege if only white people were allowed to be actors...because then there would be no possible opportunity for minorities in such a career thus hampering their economic capability

Had a friend who owned a tackle shop. Some brick masons used to come in that lived in Talladega county. There were known to us as, the brothers who were brothers. (they were real brothers and black) The would come back white too, but only cuz they would have identified with everything I just typed out, Air Supply being the exception probably.
