That's why I kept my Tennessee tags for the 6 years I lived in Virginia. When I got pulled over, I'd simply promise to get VA tags and be on my way.
I do the same thing. I live in a county were emissions testing is mandatory. My dad lives in a county where it isn't. So, my vehicle is registered in my dads county and I use his address. Nana nana boo boo, stick your head and doo doo County Clerk.

Vehicle state inspections are scams ... no doubt about it.
We do not do them here in SC. They were voted out of law decades ago.

Yep, the politicians are so inefficient in this state that we don't have much of the stupid laws that affect everyone poorly.

We do not have inspections in State of Arkansas. They just came out with an 8 year License also.

I am now convinced it is a complete racket.
Three different inspectors found issues.
None of them overlapped.
Two inspections actually came from the same shop about seven days apart.
I argued a lot about this, but at the end of the day, I still had to pay for parts, although labor was waived.
Bottom, line, I had to dump several hundred dollars on things that were "safety" issues.
They also wanted to charge another 100 for replacing a bad fog light assembly, I asked them if I had to and they said I either had to take them both out or get it replaced before they would release the car.
I took those suckers out. Not just the bulbs mind you, I had to take the entire assembly out to get my car back.
Tomorrow I will be putting them back in.

I think you see it much more prevalent in the Yankee states because they have such shite weather year round in, all seriousness. Much more frequent risk of incident. Plus the liberal idiots there love to pay more taxes for stuff because government fixes everything. Pennsylvania highways are absolute shite. Pothole city. Makes you wonder where those fees and tax dollars are going I'm sure.

I prefer the term older vehicle with character.
And in what kind of crazy system is it an ok fix since I have a crack on the plate of one fog light, that I can pass by just taking the damn thing out? But it is not okay just to take the bulbs out?
Again, could be worse. A quick drive East and I would have to pay to have a machine hooked up to test my emissions. In my county, they only look to see that I have an exhaust. In the county to the West of me, they do not even do that.

I remember back in the day when we had inspections in Arkansas. What a hassle of another step that was. Glad they got rid of that requirement.

Lived I in ga pretty much my whole life and never had to have my car inspected. Pretty sure that is an Atlanta thing. I had to have my car inspected when I moved to mississippi, all they did was check my lights and made me honk the horn.
