My dad never carried me as a kid. Instead we watched football. So I have never been. Am I missing out?

Same thing happens to me. Since then I've been a couple of times. It is a good time. Just going to deer camp with friends and family and hang8by out is a good time.

I like to bird hunt. Ducks and turkey. Not much a deer hunter. field dressing something that big does not appeal to me.

I prefer fishing.
It is more laid back, easier to clean what you kill, and less likely to kill yourself or friends when drinking while doing it.

i've always enjoyed the social aspect of it...all the local people or members showing up after dark with either a deer or a story and everyone sits around a fire drinking too much whiskey..i've loved deer camp since i was 7 ha..love it even more now that i'm 25...Our camp is also the social meeting place in my county for everything anyway...we watch football and grill there every Saturday and our family even has our family thanksgiving and christmas there
Dove hunting is very fun, because it's constant action/shooting and again everyone is drinking beer and hollering at one another...My dad's company puts on huge hunts so there are kids having a great time as well....
it's never too late to pick up a new hobby..especially if it's something you can pass down to your children and enjoy spending time with them doing it!

Well, I like to bag my limit of 10's but sometimes you have to settle for less

I didn't grow up doing it but I married into a family of it.
After the first Labor Day where I realized I would be sitting around with women all day, I decided to take the class and get licensed up.
It's a pretty regular part of life now and I enjoy extra meat year round. I don't know if love is the word I'd use but it's enjoyable and a better use of money than golf.

I live for it. In terms of deer and turkey hunting I enjoy the scouting, patience, the harvest, then the feast. Getting within bow range of a mature whitetail buck takes work and I have failed more times than I have succeeded. Same for bagging an old tom.
I raise and train German Short-haired pointers because few things as beautiful as a brace of well mannered dogs working a covey of bob whites.
Getting to share these things with my daughters makes them even more special.

I think you should have the experience. Even if it isn't a large social thing, just experiencing tracking and killing something you eat is a borderline spiritual experience in my opinion. Makes me feel my nuts.

Never been. Never want to.

I just started deer hunting a few years ago. Actually drove to east Texas this weekend to set up feeders and get work done out on the family property. A lot of hunting is sitting out in the woods being quiet and patient. It's cool to go out though. Gives you a lot of time to think. If you have a gun and want to invest in a hobby, I'd say hunting is a cool one to try.
I've only been out a handful of times, and haven't shot anything yet. When you see a deer, it's pretty damn exciting. Last year I had one 25 feet in front of me. The bastard was too young to shoot. Hoping for some better luck this year.

Wood duck in flooded timber and dove hunting is usually the most fun imo.

I coulda turkey hunted in my car today. Wifey and I went out to a late lunch because kids were off visiting friends. We took a ride through suburban neighborhood and a group of no less that 10 turkeys was crossing the road. Several males in display. Never seen anything like that before.
I coulda hit one or two easily by just not stopping.

Spent 30 years hunting Alaska. Great times and shitty times. Been breaths away from death more than once, be it a bear or a DeHavilland Beaver. I don't hunt anymore, mainly 'cause I've grown weary of the physical toll a hunt takes on an old man. I stay home with the womenz now.

I'll hunt anything.
Doves. Deer. Pigs. Rabbits. Squirrels. I do it all.
