The Weather Channel names them. You know, because ratings.
I will say the change in temperature was extreme for us down here. Yesterday we top out at 86 and humid, felt like summer. Today we won't top 40. Does show spring is on the way, and therefore severe weather season. The snow and cold beats tornadoes.

Zip. We average 100+ inches a year and have had 39 the whole fall & winter. None on the ground (except for a few berms)
Is this all of Alaska? I assume this will be bad for migratory waterfowl populations that summer in Alaska? Also bad for reservoir/creek/river levels and migrating fish with no snow melt to feed them?

I'm pretty sure Alaska had a mild winter last year as well. Seems like when the Eastern US gets a brutal winter, Alaska and the West get a mild one.

Interior has a little snow. It's been like this for a couple of years. Jet stream is pushing tropical air up into Alaska, and pulling polar air down into the mid continental US.
A reversal of 2012 when we had extreme cold and snow and the Eastern US and Midwest had a mild winter. Next week a reversal is coming.

Do you know if my assumptions about the waterfowl and fish are correct?
Posted on 3/5/15 at 12:11 pm to AubieALUMdvm
Not sure. For the Salmon on the coast it may be an issue, for the waterfowl, I seriously doubt it. Permafrost generally keeps surface water sufficient.

Went out and shoveled a path for the beagle. The struggle is real for her.

My parents have a mini schnauzer.
Little guy gonna have a boat load of problems considering the snow is taller than him.

A couple of inches of ice and I'm currently in hour four of a six hour regulatory and compliance conference call.
Shoot me.

How are the roads in Birmingham? My wife is supposed to be going to Watercolor tomorrow for a bachelorette party, and they are considering leaving Collierville, TN this afternoon instead of the morning and staying in Birmingham tonight. Anyone been on 78 in MS or AL or know if it's bad?
