I drove that stretch of I-20 going from Dega to Athens and I swear everyone was doing at least 85-90. I usually only go 10 over the limit, but I had to hit 85 just to keep a decent pace.

I go nine above the speed limit when traveling and put it on cruise control. I move a lot for work and when I have the UHaul on there, I go the speed limit or a little below.

People fly on that stretch. I used to get passed regularly doing 85 to Atlanta.

Interstate 75-78
Airline Hwy 62-66

I got a ticket passing a car going 70 in a 55... I was in the passing lane going around a car that was going 40.

I go with the flow of traffic. If the flow of traffic is going 93 in a 70, I'm going 93 in a 70. If it's going 78 in a 70, I'm going 78 in a 70.

On the interstates in Texas, the DPS has a motto of "stop 'em at 4, write 'em at 5 (over). I stay within 4 mph of the speed limit.

This. Unless the flow of traffic is too slow. Then I'll get in front and catch up to cars going faster.

85-90 typically. I always have a radar detector. Modern vehicles are designed to travel at higher speeds.

In the last drivers ed course I took, which was a court ordered requirement for me to get my ticket bumped down from a reckless to a failure to maintain control, I was taught that we should always go with the flow of traffic unless it is more than 10-15 over the speed limit. Because it is safer to ride with them, than to be the only slow car on a road surrounded by faster ones.

Usually between 5-10 over on the interstate, maybe 5 over on highways and backroads. If you're at least semi-intelligent and self aware , you can guage what a safe driving speed is. It's as if they had good drivers tour the country, took their recommendations for driving speed, and then subtracted 5-10 MPH.

The speed limit isn't about law and order...its about generating revenue.

I slowed down as I got older. Amazingly enough, I have not had a ticket in over 10 years.

Well, here in Jawja, most cops won't pull you over unless you're going 11 over the limit. Except for those Georgia State Patrol frickers and small town Barney Fifes.

I was going 80 in a 65 the other day and didn't see the highway patrol so he put on his lights and tried to get be but he got stuck behind a couple tour buses and 18 wheelers. I guess I was very lucky that day

In my youth, i would drive as fast as it took to get around every car in front of me. 110 was my limit. No need to go faster. Most of the time i would cruise at around 85-90 depending on the road. Needless to say that i have received over 20 speeding tickets and had my license suspended at least three or four times.

Now that i am older, i go no slower than 80 on the interstate. Most times i will set the CC on 83 and know that i will never be pulled over. Had multiple State Troopers tell me that they would not pull anyone over if they are doing less than 13 over the speed limit.

Except one guy. This fricking guy wrote me a ticket for doing 10 over....surprised he didnt arrest me when i gave him the good ole "are you fricking kidding me? Its TEN miles per hour over! Stop wasting my fricking time"
