Talk to her.

Either she knows she needs help and will be receptive or she won't take it well. I suspect the former is true, but if it's not you know it's time to GTFO.

She inherited it

That makes her where the buck stops, and with nobody to answer to, she isn't going to be receptive to criticism or change.

Suggest you deal or hit the classies.

People that aren't doing a good job or are struggling know it. I think a couple of things that were mentioned earlier, most specifically volunteering to take some of the load off would go a long way. It seems like she's putting forth the effort, just needs to develop a good system.

Yeah I guess that applies across the board

Those are always the worst. At least you're lucky that she's sweet. Usually "junior" doesn't know shite about the business, AND is an arse.

Yeah... I think right now she is just having trouble delegating and trusting people. Especially with things over just the normal duties of the job. Her mom owned it, died and left the business to her. Her mom's death was early and suspicious... and her step dad was fighting for control and ownership... Heard some rumors of fraud and him running around.... Like I said... she has a lot on her plate. I just want to help.. Unfortunately because of the hours I hardly ever see her, and don't want to bother her when she has gone home for the evening. Think I'll take some advice from this thread and take her out to lunch on my bill.

Agreed, she's tries, and has some good people.. she just needs to utilized and trust us a bit more... but that's also hard to do when she is in the situation she's in. I think she trusts me more than she realizes... At times she has given me full access to her main computer and files so that I could assist her in computer issues... LOL, She may not know how much trust she put into me by doing that, but it was much more than adding up employee hours and making a schedule.

It sounds like you should offer assistance. Sounds like she needs a general manager to handle the operations. Sounds like you could do it.

Good luck.
