He said on the first page new mgmt fired everyone and brought in their own people. Whether that's true or not...

Get off the mind altering stuff it's hard but it can be done (I'm living proof of that) and if you liked the welding class you took then look for a position as a welders helper and work your up. You can make a good honest living with some hard work and effort on your part. Good luck.

Sure grow up is step 1.
Step 2 is "how do you eat an elephant"? One bite at a time so don't look at EVERYTHING at once, just take care of things 1 at a time.

Sorry for your troubles. Have you considered talking to a counselor? Might be a good move to have someone unbiased to help navigate you a bit.

Oh I also wanted to say: If you can't find a job right away, go ahead and volunteer somewhere.

They're great for references (especially places like the Red Cross) and they'll keep you involved with good natured people. Hope you're well.

You should forget about USC and enroll at the Citadel. They will make sure you build a strong foundation one air chair at a time.

Start waking up really early in the mornings and don't allow yourself to turn on any TV's until the evening. When you have a full, long, day to fill, you'll find that you get a ton of stuff done.

I'm guessing he does have professional help if he is prescribed clonopin, but you are right with this advice. Seeing a therapist/psychologist/social worker in addition to a psychiatrist or whatever medical professional prescribed you clonopin can be useful if you are receptive. In my experience, you have to find a good fit though. Each person has their different style of giving advice and each person needs help in different ways. Very few professionals are able to adapt perfectly to meet all their clients varying needs. It's just like a romantic relationship, it takes some work and patience, but if it's not working after a while, try seeing someone else.

Just my take, I've learned that the best way to help others is to share personal experience and allow them to take their own meaning rather than saying they should do this or that.

You may be seeing someone already. Even the best fit can get stale after too long.

My advice is: Move to Mexico, become rich and lazy as people pay you to 'teach' them English.

Do I need a college degree to do this?

I'll be real honest about the benzo scrip and the pot as well (as I think benzos are the devil and a lot of our "anxiety" disorders can be overcome without medication): you should stop smoking pot and see if you can get off the benzos. A good portion of your anxiety may actually be caused by the pot. I know that you probably feel like it calms you down and such, but it's a double edged sword that can also cause a lot of anxiety.

A certain amount of anxiety is healthy as it can serve as impetus to getting off your arse and taking care of business instead of just laying around allowing issues to pile up.

People in our society want to walk around in some blissful state all the time it seems when that isn't what life is about. We have a really, really low tolerance for emotional and psychological discomfort in genera. Anxiety generally means you have crap you need to take care of that you're not taking care of. Address the problems, and you'll conquer the anxiety.

I also suggested it in my previous post, but you need to exercise. I'm convinced that a lot of our anxiety and depression is the result of a sedentary lifestyle with bodies and minds that aren't evolutionarily meant to be sedentary. Exercising helps to even things out, imo.

Where are you located? That changes your options considerably.

I would advise the following path:
1. quit the drugs, they'll only cost you money and waste your time
2. quit drinking for the same reasons as above
3. convince your parents to buy you some nice clothing for job interviews
4. apply for unemployment
5. ask yourself the following questions: what are you good at? What do you enjoy doing? Which of those things are people willing to pay others to do? That should narrow it down.
6. Apply to any and every kind of job available in order to get benefits.
7. Figure out whatever kind of education you need to get the kind of job you want from 5. and apply for student loans or whatever necessary in order to achieve that.
8. Work your arse off in everything you do. That means hustle to find jobs, be diligent in your studies, be a warrior in the gym, learn to do your job at work better than anyone else, be the best you can possibly be in every situation. This will lead to success in not just careers but relationships, fitness, and life in general as well.

Do this and dominate.

I'm doing it without a high school diploma.

I'm my own boss, I work as much or as little as I want. I know it sounds crazy, man, but as long as you get your foot in the door somewhere you can make it.

I had to be extremely charismatic to get where I am, but I consider myself fortunate.

I saw earlier that you were interested in teaching abroad, and all I can say is that if you want some help, I'll post my email -- although then the trolls here will have access to everything in my private life.

I'll help you out, though. I don't mind.

What kind of support can you expect from your parents? Other family members? Are you a considerate son who helps out at home?

If you were my son I'd put your butt in college and require you to work part-time and help around the house until graduation. Can your parents afford to do this for you?
