I don't have my truck winter ready, but that's hardly an issue right on the coast. Plus I get loose in the rain sometimes, I'm staying put if we have ice.

I do however have water stored and charcoal for cooking ready at the house for a prolonged winter blackout. I mean ice storms can happen down this way.

Would be a really good idea for a truck box kit. A small bag. Could provide warmth as well as something to cook on. :putsonlist:

How hard is it to have a change of clothes, a couple blankets and some bottled water in a vehicle during winter?

I do better than that. I have 2 changes of clothes, 3 bottles of whiskey, a case of beer, and a .357 magnum. I'm ready son

Less than 24 hours into this cluster that is going on, it's easy to see how many people are ill prepared or have a lack of common sense. I wonder how many would survive a true disaster.

I bought a nice generator due to a big storm just before Katrina, and then the garage burned down , taking the generator with it. I didn't replace it right away but it wouldn't have helped anyway. What I didn't consider was all the refugees from the coast plus all the locals can wipe out local gas supplies in a hurry, and those supplies aren't going to be replenished soon. Food isn't a problem. With all the trees here heat isn't a problem with a sharp axe. But keeping fuel on hand is my new #1. As far as stuff to keep in your vehicle... I dunno, but it seems to me if terrible weather is on its way that you shouldn't be in your vehicle! But maybe that's just me.

In my truck: at least one jerry can of fuel, recovery straps, complete change of clothes that vary during the seasons + shoes, full hydration bladder, rope, flint + waterproof matches, 3 flashlights + spare batteries, level 2 FAK, small axe, guns + ammo.
