Perhaps race wasn't the proper term, but clan certainly applies. Many people are ethnically Jewish, and embrace the culture and traditions that come along with that, but completely reject the Jewish faith. Anthropologists are able to identify Hebrew peoples via skull and bone analysis. Add in that Judaism largely doesn't proselytize, and I think that it's pretty clear that Jews are without question a people separate from Anglo-Saxons.

I live in Hollywood and work with a number of people in the entertainment industry. You could follow me for a day during a series of meetings, and you would not know at the end of the day who was Jewish and who was not. FWIW, I know Hebrew Christians, non-Hebrew Jews, and Anglo-Saxon Jews.

So, no, it is flat out wrong to say they are a different people without question.

I've known quite a few Jews who would disagree with you, but OK.

Minority groups tend to be much more sensitive to differences than majority groups. That's probably why you felt it wasn't noticeable. I'd bet the jews you work with know exactly who is a jew and who isn't.
