I do think it's a shame that some of these schools are failing. I hope that they can be either incorporated into larger schools in the area or preserved somehow (for instance Allen and Benedict here in Columbia are basically on the same campus). There is some great history at a lot of them.
I agree, there's some great history with the ones in Ga as well.

I had a great aunt who went to Allen, along with some other family members. But that was a long, long time ago.

AA isn't as prevalent as you think. I know I didn't get into Alabama because of AA.

Same for me with TAMU.

No. It is because some( certainly not all) HBCU's are run by crooks have to take their "cut" before the money is handed to the school.

South Carolina St. is one example. How the hell do you not have a CPA in the administrative staff looking over the money? It's maddening. Not to mention the fact they just had a shooting on campus a couple months ago where a kid died. Hell even my little podunk school in Florence didn't have these problems.

I was looking at SCSU coming out of HS( mom is an alum) but there's a whole lot of bullshite going on there and every couple months bad news is coming out of Orangeburg. Not worth the trouble imo.

The market's changing and it's no longer considered an attribute to be from an HBCU if, you are going into public service in fact, you might even be considered an elitist by your own minority peers who made the grade from the public sector of education.

1970 yes you got that govt job, today nobody gives a rats arse you better be bringing it.
