I'm sorry man, but it's really nothing to get upset over.

I understand why some people do and, I find it a really, really worthless endeavor by Walmart. Other than giving the elderly jobs, it probably doesn't stop shoplifters at all.

It doesn't, and tbh it's not meant to.

It's meant to limit "shrinkage." shite that accidentally got bagged without being scanned, bottom of the bascart items, etc.

If you have 100 to 200 dollars worth of groceries, there is no way in fricking hell you are gonna catch anything.

Not true, I've seen it happen where a bag check does catch some things. Always a clerical error/oversight, but stores lose a significant percentage of inventory in that manner every year, so an extra failsafe is a good idea.

In fact, in some stores, a cashier that's been fricking up will end up having their customers checked on their way out the door more often than not. Usually it's an indictment of their work of someone has something unpaid for in their possession.
