This crazy wind hours before the rain...knew it would do nothing good. Hopefully the rain is sufficient to make a dent.

Prayers to all.

In laws are all in Knoxville, good friend owns a bar in Gatlinburg. He said earlier that a fire truck was overturned and people were trapped.

Later he said almost half of downtown Gatlinburg was on fire. Really, really terrible shite.

He did say rain had begun, so I'm praying it's the same rain that hit Nashville, which was really heavy and last for a couple of hours, I think.

With the way this blew up so quickly, I've got a terrible feeling about what the sunrise may reveal and I'm not talking about the structures.

This has the potential to be really, really, tragic.

Woah. Hope the rainfall lets them get a handle on this... and I also hope it stays the heck away from Blackberry Farm.

That is exactly my fear. Now TEMA is saying 100 structures involved. The visuals at daylight is going to shock a lot of people I'm afraid.

Trump was on twitter. They can't be concerned with something as trivial as people's lives.

No fatalities reported so far this morning. A lot of Gatlinburg is gone though according to local reports. Especially the surrounding homes.

Yes. Both that and the surrounding residential areas.

Lots of facebook posts purportedly from family members of area firefighters are saying a large part of it is simply gone.
