It's not a "marijuana alternative". It's just highly concentrated THC. You get pretty much the exact same high.

Shatter is just a type of hash oil. It's not dangerous, but it can knock you on your arse for a little while if you have low tolerance.

In a way, it's not an alternative per se.
Just a distilled, concentrated version of the active ingredient.
Not like I ever fooled with the stuff, but I only, err.. WOULD only, get high to a certain level you know. Would still like to be able to DO things, you know...

Shatter's MUCH more expensive. Won't be a "weed alternative". It is awesome though, just like weed is awesome.

I'm in Colorado and have my medical card (for better prices, because I smoke a lot). Shatter and other forms of concentrates are very strong, but it's just thc. I mean VERY STRONG THC. I have two types of shatter at the house right now. One is an Indica shatter, that I use to help with sleep. The other is a 40% THC 40% CBD shatter, that's strong, but the cbd is relaxing and provides many medicinal benefits to people.
The only potential hazard, is the method of extraction. Either Butane or propane is added to the flower, to extract every bit of THC from the plant. To remove the solvents, it is dried in a vacuum oven. This removes the hazardous solvents.
It is a felony in Colorado to make your own concentrates in this manner. People have blown up houses and buildings trying to make it. But it can also be bad, because people may not have the correct equipment to properly remove the solvents. Being on the east coast, this would be much more likely than in a state with legal cannabis. A good vacuum oven will cost $10k+. Some people will but a cheap Chinese oven, and that's a problem.
Me, my shatter is clean and made from fresh, top quality cannabis. No clue what shite you'll find on the east coast.
But consider marijuana losses is quality pretty quickly, making concentrates is popular to preserve it longer.
Any other questions on this topic, I'll answer. Because I bet this pharmacist is so dumb, he thinks marinol is a good idea for cancer patients.
