I'm celebrating a day off work, but I would choose Lee if I had to pick one.

I don't see a problem with either being honored. The larger problems, are that both are honored for the wrong reasons in today's times, I believe.

Was a great guy, great leader, outstanding strategist, was well respected by both sides. Only fought for the South because he didn't want to fight against his home. He was also influential in reuniting the the two sides after the war.

I'm celebrating having a day to spend at home with my family. I appreciate what Dr. King did for his race and I'm not ashamed of my southern heritage so happy Bday to Lee as well. Today is just a free day to spend with loved ones though.

MLK was the greatest activist in American history. The only ones who don't respect him are the ones who are completely ignorant of what he actually tried to do

He was also a womanizer and beat his wife. But most don't talk about that side of him.

That has nothing to do with his philosophy as an activist. That's just a cop out people use so that they don't have to recognize what he did

This should be celebrated over what MLK accomplished?

Nobody that's done great good for society was a perfect person.

There can be only one Jesus.

This is the first I've ever heard of him beating his wife. You have something credible to substantiate that claim? His infidelity was known, and I do recall some rumor of him beating white prostitutes, but that was debunked.

If you can find anything bad about him, we'd love to hear it.
