Off topic: I do think some of the meds do just as much harm as good.

We need to bring back mental institutions. Way too many wackos walking around out there with mental illness and it's just a matter of time for almost all of them. Take the money we spend locking up pot heads and reopen the assylums, these people shouldn't be on the street.

Pretty much. Most everyone is easily distracted, instant gratification addicted, stimulation junkies that do not know how to relax.

we joke about it, but the truth is if any of those witnesses had had a conceal and carry they could have popped that guy and maybe saved the joggers life and saved the state decades worth of money caring for this head case.

I'm sorry, but I cannot feel sorry for someone that hacks an innocent person to death. Mentally ill or not, someone just lost an immediate family member for the rest of their life all because they decided to go for a jog this morning.

Maybe but that doesn't help the jogger who gets hacked by a very strong young man.

Yeah, but then you're carrying a fricking gun while working out. I'd rather try and not live in a world where I have to do that. If I have to carry my pistol while jogging I'd rather just get the machete. At that point, I'd rather not live here anymore.

You're right, what we need is random passerbys trying to be heros with guns they probably aren't all that accurate with. Yup. Especially in a situation like this, where the suspect is right next to the victim attacking him with a machete. I can't see anything going wrong with that situation.

Completely agree that this is sad.

What is also sad is a mother not having a son because he couldn't afford/get proper medical attention since the time he started displaying symptoms.

Crazy people are people too, and if you saw a loved one in a mental state that drove them to murder, I highly doubt you would meet them with less compassion.

These two feelings are not mutually exclusive in my opinion, but to each his own.

There was a recent robbery where a Samaritan tried to shoot the bad guy and popped the victim. Samaritan pics up shell casings and runs, becoming the bad guy.

Jesus, so that's where Thomas Johnson mentally devolved.

I knew he had issues, but never suspected it was this bad. This is horrible. My prayers are for the family of the victim. Really hope Johnson can get help and the victim's family can get justice.

Man this news ruined my day

Yeah if you have a time machine otherwise gtfo with that shite. This is a tragedy in which nobody wins, an innocent person is dead and a mentally ill person will be thrown into a system that isn't there to help him. The biggest tragedy is this could have more than likely been prevented if this country didn't turn it's back on those with mental disorders.

Dude if you are getting slowly butchered with a knife, I promise, you will take your chances with someone trying to save you with a legally owned gun. Btw, everyone I know with a conceal and carry isn't inaccurate with a gun, most are ex military, ex cop, or guys that go to the range and can shoot the face out of a quarter. Straw man argument, pretty typical.
